League of Legends’ one of the most popular Summoner spells, Teleport is set to receive a massive update on Season 12 Patch 12.1.

Teleport has always been one of the most popular Summoner spells for Top laners. As many players call the Top lane “island,” Teleport is the most crucial spell for most of the champions to join team fights in bot lane or other parts of the map. But its popularity comes with a cost.

In recent times, Teleport received the most number of changes among all the spells because of how useful it is to both the Top and Mid lane.

In season 8, the teleport was pretty much broken as it was abused by every role in pro games resulting in Riot nerfing it on patch 8.23. After the nerf, its popularity did drop a bit and Riot had to buff it on patch 10.6 for the Top lane. Furthermore, it again received a buff on patch 11.6.

Currently, it is still the second most popular spell in League of Legends just behind Ignite. However, it seems, Riot is not over with Teleport just yet. In Season 12 Patch 12.1 PBE, Riot has pushed a mini-rework that might change how Top lane is going to be played in the early game.

Teleport Changes

  • [New] Can only be used on allied turrets pre 14 minutes
  • Channel duration: 4.5s >>> 4s
  • [New] After 14 minutes upgrades to Unleased Teleport

Unleased Teleport:

  • Cooldown: 270s
  • Channel duration: 4s
  • Can be used on allied structures, minions, or wards
  • Move Speed Boost: 50% for 3 seconds

After the mini-rework, players will not be able to teleport on Zac’s passive or wards at early game. The rework just landed on patch 12.1 PBE and is subject to change. However, many players are already calling the changes Top lane “killer”.
