After three years the two-time World Champion Top Laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je has parted ways with T1.

If you were to ask any League of Legends Esports fan who the best league roster of all time is, most would answer the 2024 T1 roster. Lovingly nicknamed “ZOFGK” the roster consists of Top Laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Jungler Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, the Mid Lane GOAT Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Bot Laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok.

The T1 roster started their journey together in 2021 and has since made three Worlds Finals appearances, two of which they won. The team also won the Spring 2022 LCK finals and Esports World Cup 2024. Finally, they recently won the League of Legends World Championship 2024, cementing their status as one of the best rosters ever formed.

That said, most League of Legends successful rosters usually don’t stay together for long and the T1 roster was one of the outliers. However, recent news confirms that the beloved T1 roster is breaking up as T1 has announced that Top Laner Zeus will be parting ways with the organization.

T1 Part Ways with Zeus

In a recent X post, the T1 official League of Legends account announced they would be parting with their long-time Top Laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je.

“Today, we part ways with ‘Zeus’. We truly thank him for all that he has accomplished at T1 and wish him all the best.”

It was quite surprising news for fans of the team as the organization previously stated that they would be trying their best to sign all five players. Moreover, in the past couple of days, the team had announced the re-signing of Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria. While Faker already had a contract till the end of 2025.

However, Zeus will not be returning as rumors suggest that the players have received a big offer from another team. Though which team Zeus is joining hasn’t been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that Zeus would be joining the Hanwha Life Esports roster.

Thus, it appears that the three-year dynasty of ZOFGK is finally coming to an end.

Who is going to be the next T1 Top Laner?

Just a few moments after announcing Zeus’s departure, T1 announced that Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon would be joining the team as their next Top Laner.

The veteran Top Laner has been playing on top teams such as Griffin, DRX, KT, Gen.G, and most recently, Hanwha Life Esports and also won four LCK titles. He also made World Championships appearance four times, though he didn’t win a title yet. So, T1 seems to be a perfect opportunity for Doran to finally win a World Championship title.

However, many fans are not happy about the news as Doran has been known to underperform in international tournaments. So, they believe that this might affect the chances of T1 winning the next World Championship trophy. Nevertheless, only time will tell.
