Arcane was always written to be two seasons, says Riot Founder Marc Merrill.

The League of Legends animated series Arcane was one of the biggest TV shows of 2021. With its breathtaking visuals, fantastic music, compelling characters, and amazing storytelling, the show managed to capture the hearts of millions of viewers.

Nevertheless, Arcane Season 2 Act One and Act Two have already aired on November 9 and November 16, respectively. Season 2, like the previous season, has been a huge hit with fans. With Act Three airing on November 23, many believe the second season might even surpass its previous season.

However, with the airing of the final three episodes, it will mark the end of Arcane. Many people are upset with the news and wonder why there wasn’t a third season. Well, the founder of Riot Games Marc Merrill has recently answered that question.

Why does Arcane have two seasons?

One of the most interesting titbits of information about Arcane was revealed a couple of days ago in a Variety interview. In it, Riot revealed the cost of making Arcane, which was 250 million dollars, making it the most expensive TV show ever.

Additionally, there was a budget conversation about approving 5 seasons of the show. This led to many being confused about Arcane ending in only two seasons. However, the founder of Riot Games Marc Merrill AKA Riot Tryndamere has recently cleared all the misunderstandings regarding the show in a Reddit post.

Despite reports of having four or five seasons, Riot Tryndamere has clarified that Arcane was always planned to be two seasons. There were inner discussions regarding having the budget to do more seasons, however, Riot concentrated more on making the show the best it could possibly be.

Regarding the budget, he stated “All of Arcane’s budget goes to talent. animators. concept artists. voice actors. sound designers. storyboarders. composers. etc. The character animation alone makes up about 80% of the budget because we hand animate every frame to hit this type of quality.”

About the future of League of Legends-based shows, Riot Tryndamere stated that they have always envisioned creating more stories and expanding the universe, and this has not changed. Also, there are more stories to tell.

So we can expect more stories and shows related to the League of Legends universe in the future.
