As the final season of Arcane is on the horizon, it was revealed that Arcane is the most expensive series of all time, costing 250 million dollars.
During the 10-year anniversary of League of Legends, Riot Games revealed a ton of future projects. One of those projects is a web series based on League of Legends, called Arcane.
Arcane was later released in 2021. It took place in the fictional universe of Runeterra, specifically in the city called Piltover. The story mainly revolves around the sisters Vi & Jinx. Moreover, some of the other notable champions we see in the show are Jayce, Caitlyn, Ekko, Heimerdinger, etc.
Since the release of the first act, Arcane was a huge success. Even now it has a perfect critic score and a 96% audience score on rotten tomatoes. Moreover, it was so successful that Riot Games ended up announcing season 2 right after the end of the first season. Furthermore, it was a surprising success not only for the League players but also for Riot Games themselves. Therefore, they took their time to make the second season.
Speaking of the second season, Season 2 of Arcane is coming out this month. And it turns out that, the entire Arcane series have cost overall 250 million dollars to make. This makes it the most expensive series of all time.

Arcane: The Most Expensive Series of All Time
Recently, both the Riot Games and Arcane teams did an interview with Variety. Through that interview, the teams revealed a lot of information about the behind-the-scenes of Arcane.
Firstly let’s tackle the elephant in the room, the 250 million-dollar price tag. When bringing up this question, Merc Merill, the co-founder of Riot Games, didn’t confirm the price tag. However, he did state that they are more than comfortable spending on a product that is worth the player’s time.
In the same Variety article, it is mentioned that the first season cost around 80 million dollars. Additionally, the second season is slated to cost around 100 million dollars. Moreover, during the first season, Riot spent 60 million dollars on the promotion of the first season. It was very apparent as Arcane was everywhere. Even in other non-Riot Games games like Fortnite and Among Us. If these numbers are correct, then Arcane is the most expensive series to be ever made till now.
As for the release date of Arcane Season Two, it will premiere on Netflix on Saturday, November 9 at 3 a.m. ET.
