Surveying planet in Starfield is a big part of the game. But it is not an easy task to do. Here is how to survey plants in the game.

Starfield has a lot of different planets for the players to explore. The game gives the players a vast universe to explore and a spaceship. As you play through the game, you will earn credit to buy a new ship or steal one from the pirates. No matter what ship you use, you are encouraged to survey different planets to find out about them.

Surveying planets will vary in difficulty depending on what the planet has. Gas giants can be scanned from orbit to completion, but you need to take a different approach for the planets you can land on. You will be using the scanner to carry out the survey. Check out our guide for the complete walkthrough on surveying a planet from top to bottom.

Surveying a Planet in Starfield

You can toggle the scanner on after you land on the planet. Then, you will be able to see how many types of animals and plants the planet has. When you find a new type of animal or plant, go up to it and press E on the keyboard to scan it. However, scanning everything at once will not be possible. You will have to scan 5–6 different animals or plants of the same species to complete the scan.

Once you have scanned everything on a planet, your survey will be complete. Traits are extra features a plant can have but won’t always have. Traits are unique features of a planet, and you will need to scan the trait to complete the survey. Once you complete it, you can sell this data back to Mars to earn some extra credit if the planet is habitable.
