How to Hijack Ships in Starfield
Attack Enemy Ship
First, you need to unlock the “Targeting Control Systems” skill. Having the skill will allow you to lock onto the enemy Ships. Using this skill to latch onto the target will take some acquisition time before it’s ready. After that, zoom in on your opponent’s ship, select the subsystem of that ship, and start shooting the engines. Once the machines are down, the ship is disabled.
Docking and Boarding
To dock first, you will need to activate the scanner. When you are within close range of the defeated ship, the “Dock” prompt will appear. After that, you will see an animation of you boarding the ship.
Killing the Crew
Usually, enemy ships are full of hostile crew members. If you want to take control of the ship, you have to clear it by killing all those enemies. Find all parts, including the cockpit, as they can be spread around the whole ship.
Take Ownership
After killing the pilot in the cockpit, you can operate the ship on your own. But to do this, the skill “Piloting” should be unlocked. You can turn off a ship and board it. However, you can also add the stolen ship to your list. Now, the ship is all yours.
Register the Seized Ship
After taking ownership of the hijacked ship, you must register it first if you want to sell it for a profit. To register the ship, you can go to any city port and talk with the Ship technician. Selecting the “View and Modify Your Ships” option will allow you to register the ship before modifying it.
However, you can also register the ship from the game menu. After acquiring the ship, go to the Pause menu and select the Ship tab. You can then view the ship you hijacked and select the Make Home Ship button. This will allow you to register the hijacked ship from the menu. If you choose to register the ship, you have to spend some credits, depending on the ship’s value.
