Catching Fish in Sons of The Forest

Fishing is a good way to acquire food in Sons of The Forest. You can fish in nearly any body of water. You can also command your AI partner to find fish for you. AI aside, there are mainly two ways to acquire fish in the game. So let us discuss each one in its own section.

Catching Fish Manually

You can go to the river to catch fish. You will have to use your axe or spear to catch fish this way. Watch out for fish swimming around the river. When you find the fish, walk or swim slowly towards it. Then hit the fish with your axe or spear. Then you can pick it up and return to the camp to cook it.

Catching Fish with Traps

If you don’t want to catch fish manually, you can build a trap. A fish trap requires 25 sticks to make. Then set that trap downstream on the river and wait for the trap to do its work. This is an effective way to catch fish.
