Russian players will be able to use voice chat in VALORANT for the first time

VALORANT players in Russia can finally use essential features like voice chat to communicate with teammates in the game.

Due to some legal restrictions, Valorant players in Russia were unable to communicate with their teammates in the game. To put it simply, Russia has a clear law where they can record the voice conversations of their citizens.

Consequently, in every VALORANT game where a Russian player would join a party, Riot had to disable the voice communication features to protect the privacy of players that are not from Russia. Basically, in order to protect the privacy of players from different regions, Riot Games had no other alternatives other than disabling voice chat for Russian players.

As VALORANT is a 5v5 tactical shooter game where communications play a major role in winning a match, this was not a very favorable situation for players from both Russia and other connected regions.

Riot enables voice chat in Russia

However, that has been fixed as from now on VALORANT players from Russia will be able to enjoy the voice chat feature in the game. Since Riot saves the voice recording of every single player in the game to combat toxicity, the privacy argument is no longer valid.

This is great news for players in those regions as they will be able to queue and give call-outs to players from other regions.
