When can we see the long-awaited Riot SEA server for League of Legends? Let’s find out.
As League of Legends is one of the most played video games of all time, many players play simultaneously. And to keep up with the demand, Riot has set up servers worldwide. Some popular servers include North America, Europe West, Europe Nordic & East, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, etc. Even though these servers are set up in different places, they have one significant similarity, and that is Riot themselves controls them.
Besides the famous Riot-controlled servers, there are servers owned and maintained by third-party companies. For SEA regions, Garena had complete control over them.
Garena is a Singaporean Game Developer and Publishing company founded in 2009. Other than developing games, they have published many games in the SEA regions. Some of these games they have published are Heroes of Newerth, Arena of Valor, Call of Duty Mobile, Contra Returns, and most importantly, League of Legends.
More than a month ago, Riot announced their partnership with Garena would end in 2023. Moreover, they also announced that they would publish League of Legends and TFT in SEA servers by themselves in 2023.
