For the first time, League of Legends is going to have animated icons for its upcoming Mythic item.
Riot makes major changes to the Summoner’s Rift in every preseason. And for the upcoming Season 11, Riot is bringing in new item updates, new item class, and item system overhaul.
For the time being, Riot has already announced 23 Mythic items for the 2021 preseason. Even though players will be able to buy only one Mythic Item per game, there are three to four Mythic items per class to chose from. Moreover, according to Riot, Mythic item is a cornerstone of most builds since they’ll have abilities that can redefine playstyles.
Since Mythic items are going to have a significant impact on the game, Riot is making it look better as well. League of Legends’ lead gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter reveals that for the first time in League of Legends, Mythic items are going to have animated icons.
“We’re working on visually differentiating and “powering up” Mythic Item Icons,” Riot Scruffy on the new visuals of Mythic items.
From the clip provided by Riot Scruffy, it seems like all the Mythic items are going to have the animated icons in items shops as well as in the item inventory after buying. This is definitely a welcome change in League of Legends, as the icons had a plain design for such a long time now.
However, Riot is yet to reveal animated icons for the Legendary and normal items. It is also uncertain when they will release animated icons for those items as well.
All the new changes will hit PBE for testing very soon.
