Riot talked about Naafiri and how it will help players become better at playing Assassins.
Naafiri is coming soon in Patch 13.14 in League of Legends, as a lot of information is coming out regarding the champion. Players have waited for a long time for the champion to release. Also, what increases the hype is that the champion is a dog, and everyone loves pet-like characters.
Thus, Riot has even added a system to pet Naafiri in-game. Who does not love petting a dog, especially when Riot makes an effort to insert that into the game? All of you players are definitely going to enjoy that.
Naafiri is also set to get a Soul Fighter skin, as it’s the first cosmetic of the game. Thus, in general, Naafiri is getting a lot of stuff, and players are hyped up about it. In order to add to the Naafiri release, Riot Raptorr went on Twitter to talk about how Naafiri will help players learn how to play Assassins or play against them.
This reveals some interesting information to the players as it reveals one of Riot’s intentions with Naafiri. So, let’s talk about what Riot Raptorr had to say and analyze his comments.

Why Riot Designed Naafiri?
According to Riot Raptorr, Naafiri was designed as an accessible assassin and will be more about the fundamental aspects of an assassin. This is applicable for both going in and preventing an assassination. Here are his words separated into two categories.
How Naafiri Teaches How To Play Assassins?
In Riot Raptorr’s words, here are some of the fundamental questions assassin players need to ask themselves and answer, and Naafiri streamlines this process.
- When should you go in?
- Who will the target be?
- What angle should you approach from?
- How do you get out after the assassination?
Riot Raptorr says that all the above questions can be answered with Naafiri’s kit. Naafiri’s kit has the ability to go in, kill someone, and walk out safely. With a kill, her abilities reset, allowing her to get out.
So, the first question can be answered with the right timing of the assassination. Next is target selection and picking someone who is isolated and can be killed. However, Naafiri’s Dash targets the first enemy in the dash range, so there is a matter of what angle to jump on the target. After that, all you have to do is kill the target and get the reset.
Using the ability reset, Naafiri can get out. Thus, in Riot Raptorr’s words, all these can apply to all sorts of assassins. Naafiri allows players to learn all of this without the champion being too mechanically intensive. Hence, Naafiri allows players to learn how to assassinate effectively and escape.
However, Naafiri can be punished easily as she is mechanically easy to play. So, while she is easier to pilot, enemies can punish her easily as well. Thus, Naafiri will also teach players how to counteract an assassination attempt.
How Naafiri Teaches How To Play Against Assassins?
In this case, the whole thing with Naafiri is that her kit is simple. This will allow players to formulate a way to prevent assassins. In order to prevent them, teams need to stick together, warding flanks, tracking threats, and so on. Riot Raptorr explains this beautifully as to how Naafiri makes this a simple-to-understand process.
Naafiri is a champion who thrives in solo assassinations and catching targets off guard if they are out of position. Thus, the champion allows players to follow the basics of playing against an assassin, such as warding properly, not overextending, tracking the enemy, and so on.
It’s not like you cannot do it against other assassins, but Riot Raptorr mentions that it is easier to follow and do against Naafiri. Thus, if players learn how to play against Naafiri, they can translate that skill set to other assassins.
In Conclusion
Riot Raptorr and other Rioters believe that Naafiri will allow players to learn how to play assassins and how to counteract them. With the ease and lower skill cap on Naafiri’s mechanics, this makes it easier for players to get a good grip on handling assassination situations.
Whether that pans out according to how Riot wants it is yet to be seen. However, Riot has shown the propensity to introduce easy-to-play champions as of late to get more players into certain types of characters.
