Taliyah & Olaf have less than a 1% pick rate in League of Legends, and Riot has officially announced they will be getting a mini-rework soon.

For a game like League of Legends, which has been around for more than 13 years, champions can often become underwhelming or outdated compared to newer champions. Reworking a champion is a great way to update the champion to fit the modern League meta. For example, Udyr is getting his most anticipated rework sometime this year that Riot has been teasing since last year.

However, not all champions need massive reworks. Some champions only need a bit of tweaking and polishing to bring them up to speed. The Janna and Ahri mini reworks earlier this season are an excellent example of this. The small changes bought them into the meta as they are both being regularly played in the professional scene and are pretty strong in solo queue as well.

Taliyah and Olaf Mini Reword Announced

Riot August, the lead champion designer for League, tweeted on March 30, 2022, that Taliyah and Olaf’s reworks are underway.

“We’re beginning to ramp up work on “mid-scope updates”. These are larger sets of changes for champions that can take a couple months to lock down. The recent Ahri and Janna adjustments are examples of work in this space. Mid-scopes for Taliyah and Olaf are currently in flight.” – Riot August said.

What to Expect from The Mini Reworks

Riot August talked about Ahri and Janna to explain what players can expect from the mini-reworks. He also brought up past examples like Xin Zhao, Sona, and Lucian reworks.

“These changes attempt to revitalize characters that have lost a bit of their shine over time, ideally they’re something the players of those champs can be excited about!” August added.

Possible Release Date

The tweet mentioned a couple of months, so expect a release date of June/July, during or after the big Star Guardian Event.
