Riot has unveiled that Veigar, Cho’Gath, Alistar, Ahri, Malphite, Kennen, Viego, Aphelios, Senna, Riven & Orianna are receiving massive buffs in patch 13.4.

The cyber attack earlier this year at Riot put a wrench over their patch cycle. But now, since that is behind us, Riot will release patch 13.4 at the expected date.

In patch 13.3, Riot has adjusted various champions and nerfed early jungle presence. Moreover, they also finally released the long-awaited Ahri ASU and Aurelion Sol CGU in the same patch. While both were well received, Aurelion Sol was a little too strong. Because of that, Riot ended up hot fixing him in subsequent days. Even after the hotfix, Aurelion Sol is still very strong depending on the matchups.

And for the current patch, Riot will be adjusting various recent meta. For example, ADC supports, early snowballing, jungle clear speed, etc. Additionally, Riot will also give some well-deserved buffs to some champions.

Lead Designer at the Summoner’s Rift team, Riot Phroxzon, recently revealed on Twitter all the upcoming changes of patch 13.4. He revealed that Veigar, Cho’Gath, Alistar, Ahri, Malphite, Kennen, Viego, Aphelios, Senna, Riven, and Orianna would receive some significant buffs in the upcoming patch 13.4.

Patch 13.4 Buffs

Veigar Buffs

  • Q Range: 950 >>> 1050
  • W Range: 900 >>> 950

Veigar is a very popular burst mage. He has a very healthy pick-and-win rate in casual and lower ELO. However, his win rate is abysmal in higher ranks. Moreover, he hasn’t received any proper adjustments since the durability patch.

In the current patch, Veigar has a low 48.26% win rate. Additionally, his pick rate is 1.9%, which is very average. To bring him back to the spotlight, Riot will be buffing Veigar in patch 13.4.

Cho’Gath Buffs

  • Q Mana Cost: 60 >>> 50
  • Q Damage: 80/135/190/245/300 >>> 80/140/200/260/320
  • Armor Growth: 4.7 >>> 5
  • W Mana Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 >>> 70/75/80/85/90

Cho’Gath is one of the oldest champions in League of Legends. And recently, in both 12.22 and 12.23, he has received some significant buffs. However, they did not increase his pick-and-win rates by much. Even with introducing the new tank items, he often ranks weaker than his peers.

He currently has a 49.63% win rate and a 1.4% pick rate. Though these stats are significantly higher than before, they are still not up to par. Because of this, Riot will give him a small buff in the upcoming major update.

Alistar Buffs

  • Passive – Triumphant Roar:
    • Healing for Allies: 6% >>> 7%.
  • Q – Pulverize:
    • AP Ratio: 70% >>> 80%.
  • W – Headbutt:
    • AP Ratio: 90% >>> 100%.

In patch 13.3, Riot buffed many support champions. But one of the champions they had buffed still wasn’t doing well in the meta. And that champion is Alistar.

In that patch mentioned above, Riot buffed Alistar’s entire kit besides his ultimate. Although these changes were healthy for Alistar, Riot also buffed other supports as well. While these adjustments were good for the overall support meta, Alistar’s win rate went down with those changes. Alistar currently has a 48.98% win rate, but he still has a respectable 4.6% pick rate. To increase his win rate, Riot will be giving him some buffs in patch 13.4.

Ahri Buffs

  • Base Stats:
    • Base Health: 570 >>> 590.
    • Base Armor: 18 >>> 21.
  • R – Spirit Rush:
    • Cooldown: 140/115/90 seconds >>> 130/105/80 seconds.

After waiting more than a year, Ahri finally received her long-awaited ASU. And this new update is perfect for her. They updated her visuals, her voice-overs, and even splash art. However, her gameplay is still dated compared to most mid-laners.

Currently, Ahri’s win rate is only 48.77%. And since players are trying out the new Ahri, her pick rate is 8.3%. To give Ahri a little bit more flare, Riot will be buffing her in the upcoming major patch.

Malphite Buffs

  • W – Thunderclap:
    • Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds >>> 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds.
    • Attack Armor Ratio: 10% >>> 15%.
    • Cone Armor Ratio: 15% >>> 20%.

Malphite is the only champion on this list, with a decent win and pick rate in ranked. However, his strength comes from the top lane. Support and mid-Malphite are still weak, considerably. Malphite top currently has a healthy 50.06% win rate, alongside a 3.5% pick rate. Since Riot is buffing Malphite, his buff won’t be something major since he is very decent in the top lane.

Kennen Buffs

Kennen is currently one of the worst champions in the meta. Not only is he clunky to play with, but since the top lane is filled with tanks and lane bullies, Kennen can not compete. He has an atrocious 46.77% win rate and a low 1% pick rate.

However, it seems that Riot has recently shown much-needed love to Kennen. Because they have also recently announced a new skin for him, Astronaut Kennen. Additionally, we will see the new skin alongside his new buffs in the upcoming patch 1,3.4.

Viego Buffs

  • Passive: Passive damage can now crit
  • R Ratio: 3% missing HP per 100 bonus AD >>> 5% missing HP per 100 bonus AD

Viego has fallen far from his throne. Initially, he was one of the most broken champions in League of Legends when he was released. And after countless nerfs, he has finally become the weakest jungle champion in the game.

He has a low 47.57% win rate and a 4.7% pick rate. Riot will be buffing him in the upcoming major update to bring him up to the standards of other jungle champions.

Aphelios Buffs

  • Passive – The Hitman and The Seer:
    • Innate – Weapon Master:
      • Attack Speed: 7.5-45% >>> 9-54%.

Similarly to Viego, Aphelios was very strong when he was released. And likewise, he has also fallen from grace. But unlike Viego, one of the worse junglers, Aphelios is the worst ADC champion in the current meta. Moreover, he desperately needs a buff since he hasn’t received one since the durability patch.

Aphelios has a pitiful 46.16% win rate and a 2.7% pick rate. Similarly to Viego, Riot will buff Aphelios to bring him up to the standards.

Senna Buffs

  • Attack Speed Ratio: 0.3 >>> 0.4
  • R Damage: 250/375/500 (+100% bonus AD) (+70% AP) >>> 250/400/550 (+115% bAD) (+70%AP)
  • R Cooldown: 160/140/120 >>> 140/120/100

In this meta, where ADCs are the strongest support, many support champions struggle. One of these support champions is Senna. Though she is not unplayable, she is not up to par compared to other carry supports. She only has a 49.49% win rate and a respectable 3.6% pick rate. Since Riot will nerf other ADC supports and buff Senna, it will be interesting since she might become the must-pick support again.

Riven Buffs

  • Passive Damage: 30/36/42/48/54/60% total AD (at levels 1/6/9/12/15/18) >>> 30-60% (linearly 1-18, +1.75% per level)
  • Passive now deals damage to towers (50% effectiveness)
  • Passive stacks now show under her healthbar.

Riven is one of the most skill-expressive champions in the top lane. Moreover, she was extremely strong when Ravenous Hydra was just reworked. But now, after the item was nerfed, her pick and win rate returned to normal. However, she hasn’t received any proper update since the durability patch. Even before that, her last update was back in season 11.

Even without much adjustment, she has a 49.74% win rate and a 3.8% pick rate. Riot will give her some buffs in patch 13.4 to show her love.

Orianna Buffs

  • Base Armor: 17 >>> 20
  • W Mana: 70/75/80/85/90 >>> 60/65/70/75/80

Orianna received a very significant buff in patch 13.1b. Riot buffed her entire kit. But still, her win rate didn’t increase significantly. But she is not positioned in the meta where she should be. She currently has a win rate of 49.11% and only a 2.6% pick rate.

Because of that, Riot will give her some buffs in the upcoming major patch.

Patch 13.4 Release Date

These buffs will be launched in patch 13.4, scheduled to release on Thursday, Feb 23, 2023.
