Respawn just announced the demise of Apex Legends Mobile. Unfortunately, players won’t be getting any refunds.
Apex Legends Mobile was officially released on May 17, 2022. It has been less than a year since this massively popular battle royale game entered the mobile market. But due to the game’s unexpectedly poor performance, Respawn has chosen to pull the plug on Apex Legends Mobile.
Although the launch of Apex Legends Mobile remained a huge success, it looks like the follow-up wasn’t as good as the developers were hoping for. For Respawn, it was a “painful decision” to put an end to Apex Legends Mobile.

Goodbye Apex Legends Mobile
On January 31, 2023, Respawn made an official announcement that they would shut down the game for good following the massive downfall of performance.
“Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game,” Respawn explained why they are sunsetting Apex Legends Mobile.
However, Respawn won’t shut down Apex Legends Mobile immediately. From today, Respawn will disable all real-money in-app purchases. Additionally, the game will be removed from any app or web store as of today. At 4 PM PDT on May 1, 2023, exactly after 90 days, the game will no longer be playable in any region.
In these 90 days, players can spend their Syndicate Gold and continue playing the game as usual. But, players won’t get any refund for the money spent in the game or unused coins.
Although there was no indication of Apex Legends Mobile making a comeback in the future, Respawn hopes to cater to the mobile market with exciting offerings later down the line.
