Rell is on the priority list for League of Legends developers to get a mid-scope update sometime this year.

Riot is doing a great job revitalizing older champions that felt underwhelming to play. For example, Riot reworked Ahri and Janna earlier this year. The reworks were very successful, and both champions quickly rose to be very strong in the meta. After that, Riot also reworked Swain, Taliyah, and Olaf.

But Rell was just released last year in season 11. Though she was quite popular during the initial months, her kit was not that great, and people soon realized other supports offer similar things without the drawbacks. Also, her abilities can sometimes feel buggy to play. So players have been asking Riot to change some aspects of her kit to make her more rewarding to play.

Rell is still a strong champion with a 50% win rate in solo queue. Her Ult is one of the best engages in League of Legends. But most of the time, she needs to use flash + Ult to make sure her enemies have little time to react. Instead of W and Ultimate, her other abilities feel very underwhelming. Also, after dismounting, Rell has 200 movement speed, and it is hard to get out after engaging in a fight.

Rell Mid-Scope Update

On a recent Reddit post about Rell, Riot Reav3 commented that they were looking at Rell as a possible target for a mini rework. Though the rework hasn’t started yet, they feel she is high on the priority list for reworks.

“Rell is a Champion we talk about as a possible target for a midscope update, similar to what we have recently done with Swain/Olaf/Taliyah,” Riot Reav3 said. “We think we could potentially smooth out some of the issues brought up in this thread with a update like that. We haven’t started work on one yet, but she is a Champion we feel is fairly high priority.”

Release Date

As the work has yet to start, it’s hard to put an exact time on the release of Rell’s mini-rework. But it should be sometime within 2022.
