Ubisoft’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege has grown massively over the years. The FPS game recently stepped onto its Year 7, reaching over 80 million players in 2022.

Kaid: the 1-speed, the 3-health operator was introduced in Y3S4 Operation Wind Bastion. This Morrocan defender is one of the best breach denial operators in the game. So, when picking this defender, here are some of the things you should know.

Kaid Operator Guide

Biography

“Lead by example and the mountain will move.”

Jalal El Fassi was raised on stories of the Fortress, the legendary training facility in the Atlas Mountains. Its incomparable reputation, along with its famed “Kaids” (Commander) were seared into El Fassi.

He joined the GIGR (Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie) at 18, demonstrating natural leadership skills under fire. His ability to effectively command specialized squadrons in joint Trans-Saharan Counterterrorism Initiative (TSCTP) operations led to his promotion as Captain. After years of service, the Fortress’ reigning Commander chose his successor: El Fassi, whose authoritative but ethical style made him a worthy “Kaid”.

His imposing presence and strict values led to success with his graduates, and the Fortress quickly gained accolades. He further proved its excellence through the thousands of soldiers who trained or taught on its grounds. Over years of negotiating, he welcomed troops from across Africa and the Middle-East, fostering stronger ties between TSCTP members and African Standby Force countries.

Best Weapon Loadout

  • Primary Weapon: AUG A3 (SMG), TCSG12 (Shotgun)
  • Secondary Weapon: .44 MAG SEMI-AUTO (Handgun), LFP586 (Handgun)
  • Secondary Gadgets: Nitro Cell / Barbed Wire
  • Unique ability: “RTILA” ELECTROCLAW

As his primary weapon, Kaid has the option of picking the AUG A3 SMG or the TCSG12 Shotgun. The AUG A3 might not be the most popular gun in Siege, but it can get the job done in medium to long-range distances thanks to the 1.5x scope. The gun also has almost zero recoil, making it very easy for beginners, and the damage stats are quite good, considering it is an SMG.

On the other hand, the TCSG12 is a long-range slug shotgun that can pack a heavy punch on your enemies if you can land the shots. At the time of Kaid’s release, the TCSG12 shotgun was quite overpowered, as it had an ACOG scope and a stable recoil. Currently, in Y7S2, this shotgun might not be the most optimal choice, as its recoil is significantly higher, and the damage has also been slightly reduced. But the gun is very effective in creating rotates and lines of sight around the map, so in the hands of an experienced player, the gun can be dangerous. However, for most players, we will suggest bringing the AUG A3, as it is more friendly to use, and you just need that one headshot to win a gunfight.

For the secondary weapon, Kaid has the option to bring either the .44 MAG SEMI-AUTO or the LFP586 revolver. Like the TCSG12, Kaid’s .44 MAG SEMI-AUTO has also been nerfed since its release. The choice here mostly relies on your playstyle for the round. As the .44 MAG SEMI-AUTO has a unique long-range scope, it will be easier to hold tight angles. But the LFP586 is the safer choice when you are switching to your secondary during a gun fight.

Secondary Gadget

As his secondary gadget, Kaid can pick barbed wires or a Nitro Cell. The barbed wires can assist you in slowing down the Attackers, and give you a sound cue. However, the Nitro Cell will be the better option for Kaid, as he mostly anchors on-site, and the C4 will be instrumental in denying plants in the dying moments of a round.

Unique Ability

Kaid’s primary gadget is his “RTILA” ELECTROCLAW, commonly just called Electroclaw. This unique gadget is a wall-electrifying device that can be thrown and attached to any surface, similar to Ela’s Grizmot mines. However, only metal surfaces such as reinforced walls and hatches will be electrified. The Electroclaw has a working radius of 1.4 meters and if any wall is within this effective range it will be electrified. Attackers won’t be able to use their hard-breaching gadgets on electrified walls, thus completely preventing access to certain areas, or at least slowing down their attack.

Kaid has a total of 2 Electroclaws in his arsenal, and all are available at the start of the prep phase. The Electroclaws take around 4 seconds to deploy after being attached to the surface, so make sure to time them properly to deny wall breaches. Similar to Bandit-tricking you can Kaid trick walls, but it is more difficult and mostly works for slower breaching devices such as Hibana pellets.

As an Attacker, you can counter Kaid by using Thatcher, Twitch, or any other explosive gadgets. But one of the best ways to counter Kaid, when Thatcher is banned, is to Maverick-trick the wall to make it soft and then breach it with a soft-breaching tool.

Should you pick Kaid?

As we have stated earlier, Kaid is one of the best breach-denial operators in the game. This operator also works to deny intel by destroying Attacker drones by using electrified barbed wires. With more practice, you will get better at finding the most effective spots in placing the Electroclaws, so that they don’t get easily destroyed by Attackers.

Tips and Tricks:

(i) To electrify a triple wall, place the Electroclaw in the middle reinforcement, so that the radius of the gadget touches all the wall.

(ii) The Electroclaw can electrify metal surfaces through walls and floors, so a tricky Electroclaw placed on the floor below the reinforced wall can be very difficult for the Attackers to find and destroy.

(iii) If Kaid is the only anti-breaching utility in your team, then communicate properly to decide which part of the bombsite you should deny.

(iv) You could bring Jager, Wamai or Mute to help prevent the Electroclaws from getting destroyed by grenades or Twitch drones.
