Ubisoft’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege has grown massively over the years. The FPS game recently stepped onto its Year 7, reaching over 80 million players in 2022.
Aruni: the 2-speed, 2-health operator, was introduced in Y5S4 Operation Neon Dawn. This Thai defender is a versatile operator who can help the team deny areas and clear utility. So, when picking this defender, here are some of the things you should know.
Aruni Operator Guide
Biography
“In every conflict, it’s the children who are made to suffer, even after the fighting has stopped.”
As a private detective, her discovery of a bomb plot in Bangkok brought Aruni to the attention of the Royal Thai Police (RTP). Her knack for connecting the dots between seemingly-unrelated incidents earned her grudging respect from Thailand’s male-dominated law enforcement agencies, as well as hostility from numerous criminal syndicates.
The RTP offered Aruni a Detective position with the Crime Suppression Division, where she dismantled a human trafficking ring and foiled no fewer than four bomb plots. Her ability to track and connect diverse shipments of explosive materials was lauded by her superiors. Unfortunately, Aruni’s police career ended when she was nearly killed during an operation in Bangkok.
Following her recovery, Aruni was approached by Jaimini “Kali” Shah. Kali’s access to cutting-edge prosthetics was likely a factor in Aruni’s decision to join Nighthaven.
Best Weapon Loadout
- Primary Weapon: P10 RONI (SMG), MK 14 EBR (DMR)
- Secondary Weapon: PRB92 (Handgun), LFP586 (Handgun)
- Secondary Gadgets: Bulletproof Camera / Barbed Wire
- Unique ability: SURYA GATE
Aruni can pick either the P10 RONI SMG or the MK 14 EBR DMR as her primary weapon. The P10 Roni is a high fire-rate weapon with a small magazine capacity. So, the 16 bullets of the SMG can be emptied really quick, leaving you vulnerable while reloading. Thankfully, the gun can be quickly reloaded. In a game like Siege, where there is a one-shot headshot mechanic, a weapon with a high rate of fire paired with a low recoil can massively help you get some easy frags. So, we will recommend picking the SMG for most players, despite it having no access to any magnified scope.
However, the MK 14 EBR is also a worthwhile option. This DMR, the same as Dokkaebi’s, is a long-range rifle that can pack a heavy punch on your enemies if you can land the shots. At the time of Aruni’s release, the DMR was relatively underpowered, as it had no magnified scope or the Muzzle Brake attachment. As of Y7S2, this DMR has access to both the 1.5x scope and the Muzzle Brake, making it a much better option for a longer-range fight. In the hands of an experienced player, the gun can be deadly, but you need to be patient and hold tight angles with it. Still, for most players and beginners, we suggest bringing the P10 Roni, as it is more friendly to use and allows you to play more flexibly.
For the secondary weapon, Aruni’s only option is the PRB92 pistol. While this handgun might not be that fancy, it can get the job done when you are out of ammo on your primary. And if you are playing with the Roni, you will likely need to use this pistol during a gun fight.
Secondary Gadget
As her secondary gadget, Aruni can pick barbed wires or a Bulletproof camera. The barbed wires can assist you in slowing down the Attackers and give you a sound cue. On the other hand, the Bulletproof camera can also provide you with valuable intel, so the choice here depends on your team composition.
Unique Ability
Aruni’s primary gadget is called “SURYA GATE“, commonly known as ‘Laser Gates’. This unique gadget can be deployed on doors, barricades, walls, and hatches. Once deployed, the gate projects a laser array capable of detecting anyone moving through it. The laser gate acts as a barrier for Attackers trying to enter the site or a room. The laser gate slows down the enemy, and they will have two options to deal with it, either pass through it or disable the lasers by throwing a projectile. If opponents decide to go through the gate, they will take 30 damage.
Aruni has 3 Laser Gates that she can deploy around the map; all are available at the start of the preparation phase. The lasers will temporarily deactivate if defenders get close to their proximity. Below the gate is a small gap through which Attackers can pass drones and other gadgets.
Aruni’s device that projects the lasers is indestructible, but as we have stated earlier, it can be disabled by passing any projectile, gadget, or drone through it. Once deactivated, the device will remain unusable for 30 seconds, but the laser gates can be reactivated by shooting the generator, which is the top part of the device.
However, that’s not all; Aruni carries another passive ability: her special melee attack. Using her prosthetic arm, Aruni can make a medium-sized hole on soft walls, allowing her to create rotates and remodel the bombsites. Although it might take more time to open effective rotates than a shotgun or impact, there is no usage limit to this enhanced melee attack. In addition, Aruni can open soft hatches with a single punch.
Tips and Tricks:
(i) You can reactivate the Surya Gates from safety by shooting it with Maestro’s Evil Eyes.
(ii) You can break the soft wall on the opposite side of a reinforced wall to put a Bulletproof camera and then deploy a laser gate over it to protect the device.
(iii) You can one-punch Castle barricades to push on unsuspecting Attackers aggressively.
(iv) As Attackers, you can disable the Laser gate by placing an Osa shield on the door or window and then pick it up, saving you other utility.
Should you pick Aruni?
Aruni is a versatile operator with a strong primary gadget. This operator also works to deny intel by destroying Attacker drones and taking down projectiles such as grenades. However, don’t treat the gadget as a safe barrier like a Castle barricade, as Attackers can see through the lasers and might take you down. As an Aruni player, your role would be to anticipate where the Attackers are likely to push from and place your gadget in those high-traffic areas, such as the doorway to bombsites.
