Bungie has released Marathon Update 1.1.0.2, and while this is not the kind of patch that completely flips the combat meta overnight, it does bring several important changes across the game. The update focuses heavily on C.A.R.R.I., item economy adjustments, XP tuning, weapon bug fixes, UI improvements, contract fixes, Codex updates, and several Dire Marsh fixes.

Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 Adds Major C.A.R.R.I. Changes

The main highlight here is the return of C.A.R.R.I., also known as the CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative. With Update 1.1.0.2, C.A.R.R.I. now gives players a new reason to help teammates, complete objectives, and successfully extract.

CyberAcme Commendations Are Now Live

The new addition in Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 is CyberAcme Commendations. This is a new material that players can earn by taking part in C.A.R.R.I. related activities.

Especially for crews, players can now earn commendations by helping crewmates complete contract objectives. Solo non-Rook players can earn commendations by completing contract objectives, with extra rewards available if they extract with other players. Rooks also get rewarded for successful extractions, with bonus commendations available when they exfil alongside other players.

C.A.R.R.I. Armory Brings New Rewards and Offers

The new C.A.R.R.I. Armory is another major part of Update 1.1.0.2. Players can now exchange CyberAcme Commendations for special offers in the armory.

Each week, C.A.R.R.I. will feature a new weapon through the Weapon Showcase. Players will receive an enhanced weapon for free, but they will also have the option to kit up their own version or buy a deluxe variant.

The Armory also includes Reputation Packs, which can only be bought from the C.A.R.R.I. Armory. Buying one automatically grants a reputation for the associated faction. On top of that, players can expect special offers featuring useful items and equipment as the season continues.

Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 Buffs Explained

In terms of direct buffs, Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 is light. There are no huge weapon damage buffs or major Runner ability upgrades in this patch. However, the C.A.R.R.I. changes act as a broader reward buff for players who complete objectives, assist crewmates, and extract successfully.

The new weekly login rewards in the Armory are also a player-friendly addition. These rewards now appear beneath the โ€œtodayโ€™s sponsorsโ€ section, giving players another reason to check in and claim items. It is not a combat buff, but it is still a meaningful improvement to progression and daily engagement.

The C.A.R.R.I. Armory also softens the grind in some areas by giving players access to reputation packs and rotating useful offers.

Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 Nerfs and Economy Changes

The biggest nerfs in Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 are focused on loot quality and XP values rather than weapons or Runner kits.

Bungie has slightly reduced loot quality and increased the item pool in Cert containers in Night Marsh. Prestige drops from pinnacle containers in Prestige locked rooms have also been slightly reduced.

The Cradle also received notable XP reductions. The XP value of โ€œBlueniqueโ€ deluxe unique weapons has been lowered from 1,500 to 700. Superior weapon mods now give 1,000 XP instead of 2,500, while Prestige weapon mods now give 3,750 XP instead of 7,500.

If players were farming certain items or containers for fast progression, Update 1.1.0.2 will make that less efficient.

Item Economy Fixes and Reward Adjustments

The item economy also received several fixes and smaller balance passes. Bungie fixed an issue where combatant reinforcements in Night Marsh could roll more loot than intended over the course of a run.

Folio and Trunk rewards have also been rebalanced across item types. Bungie described this as a minor rebalance, so players should not expect a massive overhaul, but it may still affect how rewarding certain containers feel.

The update also fixes an issue where UESC-sponsored kits could spawn with Cryo keys.

Weapon Fixes in Marathon Update 1.1.0.2

Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 does not bring sweeping weapon balance changes, but it does fix several weapon-related issues.

Folding Stocks had an issue where their stat bonuses were reversed based on configuration. That has now been fixed, which should make the attachment behave as intended.

The Bully SMG also received a cosmetic fix. Its Twitch sub drop style magazine was not matching the promotional artwork, and that has now been corrected.

The BR33 Volley Rifle had an issue where the Lockout Muzzle Break Prestige mod was not suppressing weapon audio for the user, even though it was properly suppressed for other Runners. That has now been fixed.

The V22 Volt Thrower also received an audio fix. Before this update, firing the weapon could sometimes be inaudible to crewmates and other Runners. That should no longer happen after Update 1.1.0.2.

UI and Quality of Life Improvements

Bungie has also made some helpful UI improvements in this update. Errors on the Ready Up screen now more clearly show which crewmate has an issue. Players can also hover over the error to see a tooltip explaining how to fix it.

The update also fixes an issue where some weapon mod tooltips would flash or fail to appear when comparing them with another compatible mod. That should make gear comparison a bit smoother.

Crew and Matchmaking Fixes

Several crew-related issues were also addressed in Marathon Update 1.1.0.2. Bungie fixed a problem where the previously selected zone would reset after each run. Crew fill settings should now persist between runs as well.

Rooks were previously able to queue as a Duo, which has now been fixed. Bungie also fixed an issue that prevented crew members from readying up after swapping from Trios to Duos.

There were also fixes for Duo matchmaking issues, including one where a Duo could be unable to matchmake if the leader changed the activity to a non-Duo zone. Another fix addressed a crew error that appeared when Crew Fill was enabled while playing Duos.

Runner, Contract, and Faction Fixes

Thief received a small fix in this update. Bungie fixed an issue where Thief could say the wrong voice lines in the Runner select screen or when damaged during a run while using the Kasha Yokai shell style.

Contracts also received several fixes. Some limited contracts were showing the wrong art on the โ€œStory & Rewardsโ€ side, which has now been corrected. CyberAcme limited Cryo contracts also had an issue that could prevent them from appearing correctly after the weekly reset.

NuCaloric received two fixes as well. Capstone 2 had a problem where patch kits and shield charges were not being awarded after completing standard contracts. Bungie also fixed an issue that prevented anti-virus packs from being available in the Armory, even after players had unlocked them through Faction upgrades.

Codex Fixes in Update 1.1.0.2

The Codex also received a few fixes. The โ€œOne manโ€™s treasureโ€ entry could previously be completed without requiring players to convert a Prestige rarity item in the Cradle. That has now been fixed.

Bungie also updated the tooltip description for Bungie Reward entries to clarify that rewards are available for purchase after being claimed. Some โ€œEarly Bird VIPโ€ entries from Season 1 were also not unlocking correctly in Season 2, and that issue has now been addressed.

Dire Marsh Zone Fixes

Dire Marsh received several fixes across both its day and night versions. Bungie fixed an issue that allowed players to loot certain containers in the Bioresearch locked room without the proper key. That should make locked room rewards behave more fairly.

Another important fix addressed an issue where a non-final exfil timer could be extended beyond the final exfil timer. In some cases, this caused Runners to die to the timer even while standing in an exfil.

Bungie also fixed a few floating containers on top of the Greenhouse.

In Dire Marsh Night, a door hack device in Upper Complex was hidden behind a cabinet, and that has now been fixed. Bungie also fixed an issue where other Runnersโ€™ flashlights would not appear if they were turned on before entering your sight range.

Dire Marsh Day received a fix for an issue where the second wave of exfils was failing to spawn.

Marathon Update 1.1.0.2 feels like a maintenance and progression-focused patch rather than a flashy gameplay overhaul. Bungie is tightening the economy, cleaning up frustrating bugs, and giving players a new reason to engage with C.A.R.R.I. through commendations and the Armory
