Tanks are getting a new Anti-Mage item called Kaenic Rookern this preseason.
League of Legends as a whole is undergoing significant changes in Preseason 2024. From the New Map to a revamped Baron Nashor, there are tons of changes to talk about. But one of the changes we really need to get into is the changes to items.
For Preseason 2024, Riot is finally removing the Mythic Items system from the game. Although Mythic Items were a pretty unique concept, they created more harm than good. They affected build diversity and, in some cases, altered how champions were played. Thus, Riot has decided to remove Mythi c Items. In their place, we are getting tons of new and revamped items. In this article, we are going to talk about one of these items, Kaenic Rookern.
Kaenic Rookern is the new Anti-Mage item. It provides tons of Magic Resistance and provides a shield that absorbs magic damage. It is also pretty gold-efficient too.

- Item Recipe: Spectre’s Cowl + Negatron Cloak + 850 gold
- 350 Health
- 80 Magic Resistance
- 100% Base Health Regeneration
- Passive – Magebane: After not taking damage from champions for 15 seconds, gain a magic shield for 18% of your maximum health.
Kaenic Rookern is looking to be the new best-in-slot Anti-Mage item. It provides 350 Health, 80 Magic Resistance, and 100% Base Health Regeneration for only 3000 Gold. Additionally, its passive Magebane provides a magic shield equivalent to 20% of the user’s health every 12 seconds.
Kaenic Rookern’s great base stats, along with its unique passive, make it an excellent item for most champions. With the item, champions like Malphite and Maokai can finally stand firmly against Mages.
Overall, it’s a pretty strong item and should make playing tanks against mages less frustrating.
Release Date
Kaenic Rookern, along with all the new items, will arrive in League of Legends in Patch 14.1, which is scheduled to be released in early January.
