Riot to add new purchasable icons to the store; they all look fresh and gorgeous.

League of Legends has evolved from being a MOBA to a cultural phenomenon. And much of it has to do with just how good Riot’s art team is. From character splash art, champion theme, and animated music videos to emotes and icons – Riot goes overboard when handling these side matters.

In parallel to their game design, these artistic pieces keep evolving as time goes by. With every event or update, Riot introduces new emotes and icons. This time around, they are again adding a new bunch of them. Some of these are for skins, and the rest are experimental to see if the new style resonates with the players.

The Dragonmancer skins were leaked not too long ago. And now we have the icons coming for that event as well. This time, Rakan, Vayne, Kassadin, and Fiora are getting their Dragon-themed skins.

In this article, we’ll take a look at those skin emotes along with Riot’s experimental other graphic icons that are coming alongside them.

New Icons and Emotes

New Icons

These are the new icons. The icons are mostly for Ionian and Void champions. Tristana, Rakan, Fiora, Kassadin, Vayne, and Rakan icons are associated with their respective Dragonmancer skins. Then, we also have the Dragonmancer event icon just right to Rakan.

Then we have the Void champion icons. Malzahar, Cho’gath, Bel’veth, Kog’maw, Rek’sai, and Velkoz. You may have noticed how these stylizations on these are radically different from the preceding ones.

Riot artists were basically experimenting with new styles and designs. These are the initial results of that voyage. You can see how these have bold and energetic use of colors, with sharp contrast in the color palette. The outline and shadows in the art are much more defined and pristine.

Personally, I really like this style. They also experimented with the Anivia, Volibear, Akali, Shen, and Kennen icons. The Anivia and Volibear ones look great to me. But Akali, Shen, and Kennen icons seem quite generic, with the same pose for all 3. The use of color is not as stylized as the Void champions. But I think they still get a pass for being experimental icons.

New Emotes

Now, for the emotes, we have the celebratory T1 and Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan emotes. Personally, I would be looking to get the T1 emote as a huge fan.

How to get the new icons and emotes?

All of the icons and emotes discussed will be available to purchase individually in the store. Each of the new graphic icons will cost 250 RP. The event icons may drop in the mythic shop, though. In that case, they will cost 5 mythic essences for the icon and 25 mythic essences for the prestige Dragonmancer Rakan emote.

Release date

All the new icons and emotes will be available in patch 14.1 and are set to release on January 9, 2024.
