Riot to bring new game modes in League of Legends along with the return of URF, One-for-all, a bigger Arena in season 2024.
League of Legends has mainly two game modes. ARAM and Summoner’s Rift (which has 3 other different queues: Ranked Solo/Duo, Ranked Flex 5v5, and Quickplay). These 2 are the permanent game modes.
There are also rotating game modes. These game modes consist of ARURF, URF, Nexus Blitz, etc. Last year, we also had Arena (2v2v2v2), which was polished and released again later in the year.
However, Riot still isn’t done improving it. It is supposed to be another permanent addition to League of Legends after it is enhanced even further.
In the season 2024 Look Ahead video, Riot shared news about all the other modes coming to the game this year and the changes to Arena.
In this article, I will brief you on all the game modes and changes coming this year.

Arena: 2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2 and More Gameplay Changes
So, Arena is going to come back again with even more changes in the first half of season 14. This time, they are going to continue focusing on champion diversity, which means you do not have to rely on the same picks every match to win matches. They will also bring game-to-game variance with new augment and focused gameplay changes. I guess that Riot is going to bring even more changes to how Cameos function to spice things up further.
The biggest and most interesting change, however, is the introduction of 2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2. So, there will be 8 teams instead of 4. I think this will create room for more comebacks. In December, it often felt like once you lose a couple of rounds straight, it becomes nigh impossible to return. With more teams, there will be more randomness and so more opportunity to take advantage of the chaos.
Return of URF and OFA
Ultra Rapid Fire (URF), everyone’s favorite game mode, is coming back in the first half of season 2024. So get ready to spam abilities and perma-fight without having to worry about mana and cool-down.
My personal game mode, One-for-all, is also returning. I find this mode very funny because of the sheer number of absurd stuff you can do by having the same champion for all of your teammates.
A Completely New Game Mode
Just like Arena, Riot is also working on a completely new game mode. This mode will have a different core gameplay as opposed to SR and ARAM. The unique selling point for this mode will be super casual gameplay, with no competition. According to Riot, it’s a mode where you can just chill with your friends without having to worry about all the objective grinds and kills.
Riot hasn’t revealed more about this game mode yet. They are still exploring the sea with that one. So, you will get more updates when they have a more concrete idea as to how the mode might look like in LoL.
