Modern Warfare 2’s ranked mode is set to be released with Season 2. With the countdown for the mode closing in, data miners have gotten their hands on essential leaks regarding the ranked mode of MW2.

Call of Duty is considered as an arcade shooter because most casual players can get the hang of the game in a few days, unlike other FPS shooters like Counter-Strike and VALORANT. However, CoD features a Ranked Play mode for the competitive community of players.

The Ranked Play mode allows players to compete in a skill group and find out where they stand as a player. Ranked Play was first introduced in Black Ops 2 by Treyarch. As for Modern CoD titles, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard featured Ranked play, which Treyarch also led.

Like the previous two games, Modern Warfare 2 will also get a Ranked Play mode which Treyarch will overlook for the next 2 years. Although Infinity Ward has talked about the Ranked Play mode, no official gameplay details have yet been revealed. But data miners have taken matters into their own hands as they have gotten their hands on MW2 Ranked Play mode details.

Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Mode Leaks

Thanks to Grant Taylor Hill, we learned about the Ranked Play details for MW2. Here’s an in-depth look at the Ranked Play details:

  • Ranked Players will advance and earn “SR” to rank up their Skill Divisions, which will be adjusted accordingly after each match.
    • SR will be calculated based on player performance, win, and loss.
  • If a Ranked Player manages to win three consecutive matches, they will be on a Hot Streak, which sets their rank emblem alight for as long as they’re on the winning streak.
  • Rank will be permanent, and it will persist across multiple seasons, however, the “Skill Division” will change with each new season. In total, there will be seven skill divisions.
    • When a new season starts, Ranked Players will be dropped one Division below their finishing point for the previous season, with Diamond I being the highest starting Division for the new season.
  • Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Mode will be played in a 4v4 structure (CDL Moshpit) using every rule, map, and mode in the Call of Duty League.
  • In keeping with previous Ranked Modes, MW2’s mode will unlock all unrestricted attachments for players (separate classes from normal multiplayer), lock down on restricted items, enables friendly fire by default, and issues suspensions or penalties based on inactivity, disconnecting and repeated friendly fire.

So this is how the Ranked Mode in MW2 will function, more information regarding the mode will be published in the coming weeks. As of now, Activision is issuing DMCA on any entity publishing Ranked Mode-related images or data, making the leaks credible.
