With the end of the Season coming soon, here is when we can expect Quick Play to come to League of Legends.
Quick Play has been something that Riot promised a while back for League of Legends. It is a game mode that Riot wants to implement in order to replace Normals. Riot talked about this in a previous dev update where they have talked about various other things.
In terms of game modes, Arena was released a while back, and that garnered a lot of attention. It was so much of a success that Riot is bringing Arena back in December. Also, Riot promised Nexus Blitz will be back, and they have confirmed that it is coming back in October.
So, with all of those promises coming true, players have been wondering about the status of Quick Play. Here is all we know about when Quick Play is releasing.

What is Quick Play?
In essence, Quick Play is something that is meant to replace Blind Pick eventually. This game mode will let players pick their role and champion combination and allow them to queue for matches.
So this would cut down on a lot of things like queue time, hassle to call for roles and such. This is something that League of Legends has needed for a while to streamline the base experience of the game. Also, this allows players to just jump into the game without thinking of whether they get their role/champion or not.
Why Did Quick Play Get Delayed?
The game mode was originally supposed to come out in the middle of the Season. However, Riot decided to delay it for several factors, such as.
- Arena Game Mode
- Ranked Changes
- Emerald Tier
The major reasons are above, with Ranked Changes and Emerald being at the top of the list. Both of these were fundamental changes that delayed the release of Quick Play. In the same breath, Riot is making more changes to Ranked in Preseason 2024.
When is Quick Play Being Released?
Based on what we know so far, Riot has mentioned that Quick Play is coming out at the end of this year. Also, since Riot has changed how Preseason will work from the next season and onwards, it is fairly hard to say the exact date until they reveal it themselves.
Thus, based on what is known, Quick Play is expected to be released at the end of this year during Preseason 2024. So, keep your eyes peeled for when Riot announces Quick Play and then we will have to see how the mode works.
