Riot has announced even bigger Arena changes for League of Legends in 2024.

In 2022, Riot released a brand new game mode in League of Legends called Arena. And this mode is completely different if you compare it to Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss.

Firstly, instead of 5v5, the format is 2v2v2v2. And instead of runes, there are augments. Additionally, most summoner’s spells are also disabled. There’s also a unique mechanic in this game mode called cameos. With cameos and augments together, each Arena match always feels unique.

When it came out, Arena was a huge success, so much so that they brought it back at the end of 2023. Additionally, it is also coming out in Wild Rift as well.

With that said, Riot has announced that they are bringing Arena back again in 2024. They have also outlined some changes. So here’s everything we know so far.

League of Legends: Arena Changes 2024

First, and probably the biggest change coming to Arena this year, is that they are changing the format. Instead of 4 teams of 2, it is 8 teams of 2. So you won’t have to fight the same team every single time.

Additionally, they want to incentivize more experimentation. Therefore, there will be more Arena exclusive champion balancing coming as well.

While they haven’t revealed much, they also mentioned that they are adding more augments and new maps for Arena. So the next time we play this mode, it’s going to be even different.

Release Date

While they didn’t provide a specific release date, they have confirmed that we should be getting this mode in the first half of this year. Meaning that we should be getting this mode before June or July. So we just need to be patient about it.
