Bad news for Shyvana mains as her rework has been delayed, yet again.

In February of 2022, Riot conducted a poll to determine the next champion to receive a full VGU (Visual Gameplay Update) in League of Legends. There, Skarner won by a landslide, beating out Shyvana, thus, making her the next in line for a much-needed rework.

The much-anticipated Skarner VGU was scheduled for a 2023 release, but unfortunately, it was delayed multiple times. However, the rework was, finally released in 2024, with the Patch 14.7 update.

The next in line for a rework, as stated before was, Shyvana. She was originally supposed to get her rework in 2024, however, due to the delay of the Skarner rework, her rework also got delayed. Not only that, the Rioters who were working on VGUs were laid off a couple of months ago, leading to her rework not being released in 2024.

So, players were crossing their fingers and hoping that they were going to get a Shyvana rework sometime in early 2025. However, that won’t be the case as Riot has confirmed that the rework will be delayed yet again.

Shyvana Rework Delayed

In a recent, Reddit post, Riot Meddler, Head of League Studio announced that she will not be receiving a rework in Season One of 2025. According to Riot, VGUs will be part of the season theme and she clearly does not fit the Noxus theme, leading to her not being released during season one.

For context, starting in 2025, Riot will be diving each year into three seasons and each season will have its own theme. The champions, skins, and VGUs that will be released in that season will follow the season’s theme. For example, Season one of 2025 will be Noxus themed, and thus will come with a Noxian champion, Mel Medadra, and rumors suggest LeBlanc will be getting a rework.

So, that means, that Shyvana rework will be released in a Demacia or Dragon-themed season? Technically, yes, Riot Meddler did mention that to be the case. However, he also stated that she won’t be in 2025 and there’s no solid date. So as it stands, the Shyvana rework has been delayed indefinitely.
