The upcoming champion for League of Legends will be Mel Medarda.
One of the biggest allures of League of Legends for many players is its massive roster of champions. The game currently has over 165 champions to choose from, with each of these champions having unique abilities. Also, each year, more champions get added to this already massive roster of champions.
This year alone, three new champions have been added to the game. The first champion released this year was, Smolder the Fiery Fledgling, a Marksmen champion with unlimited scaling. In July, Riot released, Aurora the Witch Between Worlds, a burst mage that can lock enemies down in a massive circular rift. Finally, we have Ambessa the Matriarch of War. She was first introduced in Arcane Season One and two years later we have her in League of Legends.
That said, with the release of Ambessa, many were pondering what champion we were going to get next. However, with the release of Arcane Season 2 and some leaks, we now have full confirmation as to which champion is coming to League of Legends next.

Mel Medarda To Join League of Legends
Before we start, this section will contain spoilers from both Arcane Season One & Two.
Mel Medarda was first introduced back in November of 2021 with Arcane Season One as a city councilor of Piltover. Moreover, she was later revealed to be the daughter of League of Legends’ newest champion Ambessa Medarda. In the show, she plays a vital role in Jace’s discovery of Hextech. As season One progresses, she is presumed to have died by Jinx’s rocket.
However, in season Two, we learn that she survived and as the season progresses she learns about her true power and aptitude for magic. She is later seen going back to Noxus presumably taking over her mother’s role as the head of the Medarda family.
Introduction aside, let’s now go over why we believe that she will be the next League of Legends champion.
It was heavily implied at the end of Arcane Season Two that Noxus would play a big part League of Legends story going forward. As the head of the Medarda family, she would play a part as well. Additionally, leaks suggest that the next theme for Season 2025 is Noxus. So, it’s not for fetched to get a champion from Noxus in the next season. The prime candidate for that champion is Mel Medarda.
Not only that but Mel’s TFT icon also got leaked, which suggests she will be joining TFT. So, getting her in League is not that far off. Finally, the well-known League of Legends leaker Big Bad Bear, has stated that she is the most likely candidate for the next League of Legends champion.

Mel Medarda Release Window
The release date for Mel Medarda has not been revealed yet. However, we can expect her to be playable sometime early in 2025. If Riot follows this year’s champion release schedule, we can expect her in January at the earliest.
