League of Legends Season 2025 has been revealed, here’s everything that is arriving in the upcoming season.
The preseason has always been one of the most exciting times of the year for any League of Legends player. It is the time of year when Riot introduces new gameplay changes and adds brand-new content to the game. During this period, players are also able to test out these new and exciting changes before they begin the season.
However, starting Season 14, Riot made some significant changes to how Preseason works. There was no longer a conventional preseason. Instead, the preseason adjustments were first introduced on the PBE server and then directly sent to the live servers in January.
Although we will no longer have a traditional preseason period, it doesn’t mean we won’t have the exciting changes that come with Preseason. So, with just a few weeks until the preseason update, Riot has provided some information regarding the upcoming changes coming in Season 2025.

League of Legends Season 2025 Structure
The upcoming Season 2025 will be divided into three smaller seasons, each of which will have two acts. Additionally, each season will have a theme and the theme for the first Season will be Noxus.
The majority of the content released in each season will be connected to the theme of that Season. So, most of the gameplay changes, modes, skins, mini-games, and champions will have a strong connection to the Season’s theme, which is Noxus.
Season 2025 Gameplay Changes
As part of the new season, we will also have a ton of new gameplay changes.
Firstly, Summoners Rift will be getting a Noxus-themed makeover. Turrets, Inhibitors, and even the Nexus will now have Noxian architecture. In addition, Nexus Turrents will now respawn after a certain time, thus making defending after Open Nexus much easier.
Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin
In tandem with the Noxus theme, Riot we’ll be bringing to Summoners Rift a brand new Epic Monster.
Atakhan, an ancient demon of bloodshed and violence will spawn at 20 minutes in the river near either the Top or Bottom lane. He spawns on the side that has seen the most champion damage and kills in the previous 14 minutes. At 14 minutes Atakhan’s pit will spawn with two permanent walls to carve out his territory and signal where he’ll appear for players.
Not only that, Atakhan will have two variants, Ruinous Atakhan and Voracious Atakhan. In higher-action games, players will face Ruinous Atakhan. If they manage to take him down, the entire team will permanently be granted increased effects from all Epic monster rewards, and he’ll leave behind a field of Blood Roses for anyone nearby to collect.
Blood Roses are a new type of plant that gives the entire team a small amount of XP and a permanent stacking Adaptive Force buff.
In lower action games players can find the Voracious Atakhan and if they manage to take him down the entire team will be granted a temporary, one-time rebirth buff, similar to Akshan W passive.
In addition to Atakhan, Baron will spawn at 25 minutes and Rift Herald will spawn at 16 minutes.
Feats of Strength
The new mechanic Feats of Strength will now be replacing the gold rewards from First Blood and First Turret. There will be three Feats of Strength in the game, these are,
- First Blood
- First Tower
- First Three Epic Jungle Monsters (Drakes, Herald, any 3 Void Grubs)
The team that completes two of the three aforementioned feats will win the contest and be granted the blessing of Noxus buff. Any tier 2 boots owned by players on the Feat winning team will instantly receive a small buff thanks to this enhancement. If they do not have tier 2 boots at the time and if they buy them later, they’ll also get the bonus.
After completing two legendary items, a player on the Feat winning team can spend gold to upgrade their boots to tier 3, which grants another small stat bonus and a unique effect depending on which boots you upgraded.
New Runes
Four new Runes will be added to the game and will be replacing four of the existing runes. These are Axiom Arcanist, Deep Ward, Sixth Sense, and Grisly Mementos.
Axiom Arcanist will buff players’ ultimate ability’s damage, healing, or shielding and refund some cooldown on takedowns and It’ll be replacing Nullifying Orb.
Deep Ward makes Stealth Wards that a player places in the enemy jungle, granting them +1 HP and lasting 30-45 seconds long. Beginning at level 11, Stealth Wards that are placed in the river will also be considered Deep and grant the respective bonus. It will be replacing the rune Eyeball Collector.
Sixth Sense automatically tracks a nearby enemy ward if players cannot already see/track it. If it’s a melee champion it will have a 300-second cooldown, with a 360-second cooldown for ranged champions. Beginning at level 11 this rune will not only track the enemy ward, but it will also reveal it for 10 seconds giving you a chance to take it out. The rune will be replacing Zombie Ward in the Domination Tree.
Finally, we have, Grisly Mementos which grants an infinitely stacking 5 Trinket Ability Haste upon champion takedowns. It will be replacing the Rune Ghost Poro.
Ranked Changes
Season 2025 will also change how rank resets work. Players’ rank will now no longer reset each split and will reset only once at the start of each year. However, players will still be able to get Victorious skin after each thematic Season.
Season Pass
Season Pass or Battle Pass as Riot calls it, will also be revamped in the upcoming year. Each Battle Pass will now be tailored to each season’s theme and Battle Passes will last four patches instead of the current two.
In addition, Rewards and Pricing for Battle Pass will also be altered. There will be three options for purchasing Battle Pass, these are,
