Riot Games are revamping and bringing back one of the OG skin lines of League of Legends, the Gothic skin line, in the upcoming Preseason 2023.

Earlier this year, Riot Games held a poll where players could vote on which champions get a VGU update. Alongside the VGU poll, Riot Games also had another poll; a skin thematic revamps poll.

In the skin thematic revamp poll, players could vote on selected OG skins they wanted to return. Some of the chosen skin themes were: Gothic, Infernal, and Arclight. The poll resulted in a landslide victory for Gothic.

Goth is a series of alternative universe skins, originally started with Goth Annie in 2009. It represented Annie as a gothic child, which was Annie’s first skin as well. However, despite being an early skin, it was still a success. So much so that Riot Games would also follow up and add a Gothic skin for Amumu a year later. This time named Emumu, this skin was also very well received by fans. Around a year later, after Emumu, Orianna was released. Alongside her launch, she also received her first skin. It was Gothic Orianna, the last skin of the Alternative Gothic universe.

Riot recently uploaded a video about the roadmap for the upcoming preseason 2023. In it, they showed various new additions and changes, including the Gothic Skin revamp, now known as the Fright Night Skins.

Other than Annie, the rest are all newer addition to the Gothic or the Fright Night skin line. Some fans are sad that they won’t see a revamped version of Emumu and Gothic Orianna.
