Riot teased massive changes for their upcoming Preseason 2023 update, featuring three new champions, Aurelion Sol CGU, Ahri ASU, Chemtech Drake, Gothic skin line update, various system changes, and many more.

Riot Games released a new video yesterday regarding the upcoming preseason 2023. In it, League of Legends’ lead champion producer Reav3 and lead designer on Summoner’s Rift team Phroxzon went in-depth on what they want to add and change for the upcoming preseason 2023.

Since preseason 2023 is right around the corner, Riot Games uploaded their LoL pls for the upcoming preseason 2023. The LoL pls for the previous preseason was very controversial. And the player base had a very mixed reaction to that preseason.

With that being said, Riot did an amazing job delivering the newest LoL pls video. This time they addressed most of the questions and concerns the community had while also teasing some new and exciting news alongside that. Let’s check out everything that Riot Games unveiled during this latest LoL pls video.

New Champions

In this Preseason 2023 changes RiotReav3 teased 3 new champions.

K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah

K’Sante is going to be a tank top-laner. This is exciting since we haven’t had a tank top laner since 2020. K’Sante will be hailing from Shurima. And also, he will be hailing from the part of Shurima that has never been seen before, Nazumah. He will be using a blunt weapon that can also turn into a blade, according to RiotReav3. At the current pace, K’Sante might be the first champion we might see in season 13.

Darkin Assassin

Now, this is something many fans are really excited about. We are going to get a new darkin champion similar to Kayn and Aatrox. He is going to be an assassin, and his darkin weapon will be a dagger. And that’s all we know about this champion. Even so, many players are excited to learn more about this champion.

Ixtal Enchanter

The next champion they teased is very early in development. Some things RiotReav3 already confirmed, like he will be a male enchanter from Ixtal.

Aurelion Sol CGU

Riot has been testing out a new type of update called CGU, or Comprehensive Gameplay Update. And they have been testing this type of update out with Aurelion Sol. The goal of CGU is not to update a champion’s visual or already established lore but to reimagine that champion’s kit to a new standard. They revealed some of Aurelion Sol’s new abilities.

First off, his new Q now breaths fire for as long as he has mana to do it. His new W allows him to fly with the push of a button. Not only that, he can use his W and Q at the same time as well.

According to RiotReav3, Aurelion Sol’s CGU will come out after K’Sante but before the darkin assassin.

Ahri ASU

One of the most anticipated updates of this season was the Ahri ASU. ASU or Art and Sustainability Update is a new type of update that was introduced with Caitlyn’s ASU. ASU updates are basically changing the champion’s visual, model, VFX, and voice-over without changing any of the abilities to keep up with this ever-evolving game. In the Preseason 2022 video, the developers teased that the Ahri ASU will be coming in season 12. But it won’t be coming this season since Ahri has so many skins that need to be updated. But the base skin is close to being complete. And RiotReav3 confirmed that Ahri ASU would be dropping early next year.

Gameplay Changes

RiotPhroxzon Revealed many changes that will be coming in the upcoming preseason 2023. He stated that there wouldn’t be a huge update in the middle of a season similar to the Durability update. These types of updates will only be in the preseason. Other than that, he also revealed new additions and updates that are coming in the upcoming preseason 2023.

Jungle changes

We already covered the jungle changes. In short, they are making jungling more accessible for newer players. They are changing how leashes work. And most importantly, they are adding Jungle Pets. One thing they revealed that we didn’t cover is that Chemtech Drake is coming back.

Chemtech Drake

Chemtech Drake is coming back this preseason with various changes. Her soul won’t bring you back to life anymore, similar to Sion’s passive. Instead, the new Chemtech soul will grant you increased damage and damage reduction when you are low on health. And when the Chemtech drake takes over the rift, the plants will become empowered. For example, the blast cone will take you further than ever before, and Scryer’s Bloom will grant you movement speed when moving towards revealed enemies.

Communication Changes

We already talked about communication changes in our previous article about the jungle changes. In short, they will be improving upon the ping system so that players can express their skills even more.
