Earlier today, Ubisoft released the much-anticipated match replays for the Six Invitational 2021, and here’s how to use them.

Before Six Invitational 2021 began, Ubisoft confirmed that this year’s SI would be the first Rainbow Six Siege official tournament for which match replays will be released publicly. And now, they are keeping their words, making the replay files available to everyone in the community.

How to watch the SI match replays?

First, you’ll have to visit the official Ubisoft blog post, where you’ll find links to zipped files of the match replays (links added at the bottom of this post). All the matches of a playday are bundled into one folder, so you’ll have to unzip them before copying them into the “MatchReplay” folder on your PC. By default, the path to this folder should look like this: D:\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege\MatchReplay

However, you should not rename the replay files, nor the folder they are in, for the game to read them. The name of a replay folder should look like this: “Match-2021-05-11_17-30-30-10” and the name of replay files like this: “Match-2021-05-11_17-30-30-10-R01.rec”.

Note: Only 12 replays can be displayed at a time in the watch tab. If your ‘MatchReplay’ folder contains more than 12 replays, the oldest replay(s) will automatically be erased once you start watching a replay, or start recording a new match.

Match replays for pro league will help content creators or analysts to dive deeper into the game, and see how strategies come to life. In Rainbow Six Siege, teamplay and coordination is very essential, which can often be missed by the best observers.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that they will be releasing replays from Regional Leagues and Majors in the future. So now, the only downside that needs to be mitigated is the invalidation of the match replays by new patches, which isn’t quite that simple.
