Ninjas in Pyjamas have completed their redemption, as they beat Team Liquid in the Six Invitational Grand Finals to lift the Hammer.
In last year’s Invitationals, NiP just fell short of SSG and received a heartbreaking defeat. But 15 months later, they were back in the same stage, and this time they didn’t let it go. NiP defeated their Brazilian rivals Team Liquid 3-2 in a best-of-five series and grabbed the Rainbow Six Siege World Champions title.
The Bo5 series started with a quick 7-2 victory for NiP on Kafe. However, Team Liquid wasn’t giving up that easily, as they climbed their way back by taking the next two maps of Chalet and Clubhouse, and thus tied the series 2-2 (NiP already had a 1-map advantage).
NiP was not going to throw their chance of lifting the hammer for the 2nd year in a row, as they dominated Team Liquid on the last map of Consulate with a perfect 6-0 defensive half. While Team Liquid tried their best to climb a tall mountain, it was all over for them as NiP won the final round on attack and earned the Invitational Hammer for themselves after a long wait.
NiP becomes the first Brazilian team to win the Six Invitational trophy. The team will also be receiving the huge prize money of 1 million USD, while the 2nd placed Team Liquid will receive $450,000.
This was the first international event for Rainbow Six Siege since February 2020. But hopefully, we won’t have to wait for much longer for the next Major event.
