In Minecraft, you need gunpowder for creating fireworks, brewing potions, or making explosives. This makes gunpowder a really essential item in the game for various reasons. Collecting gunpowder in Minecraft is a difficult process because you have to kill creepers to get it, which is tricky because creepers can explode when you try to kill them.
Building a creeper farm for collecting gunpowder is the most efficient way to collect gunpowder. Constructing a creeper farm may be difficult, but you can get tons of gunpowder for your needs once it’s done. In this guide, I will show you how to build a working creeper farm in Minecraft.

Here is how to build a working creeper farm in Minecraft.
Steps to Building a Creeper Farm in Minecraft
It would be best to find a good biome before building your creeper farm. Creeper farm works best in the plains or desert biomes. These biomes have a higher chance of spawning creepers, which is perfect for a working farm. Additionally, you have to build this farm away from any village so no obstacles can delay the spawning rate for creepers.
First, you have to create the layout for your farm, which will be 13×16 blocks in dimension. Follow this layout to build the base of your farm.

After building the layout, make them one block higher and put some extra blocks in the center of the base. Dig a 3×2 hole in the middle and put trapdoors on both sides.

Next, you need to lay some carpets on the farm’s surface. Make sure you place down the carpets on both sides in this way.

After you are done laying down the carpets, you need to bring two cats to the farm. After bringing the cats to the farm, place them on the middle carpets on both ends and make them sit down so they don’t move.

Open the trapdoors, dig down three blocks deep in the middle, and dig another six-block long tunnel in one of the sides. After digging the tunnel, use two water buckets to put water at the start of the tunnel so creepers can flow down.

Break two blocks where the water has ended and place two stairs. Dig three blocks down at the end of the tunnel and clear out some blocks to create space. Place down a large chest and place hoppers facing the chest to store gunpowders.

After placing down the hoppers and the chest, place two soul campfires on the hoppers to kill the creepers. Then, place glass blocks above the chest so no creepers can get past.

After finishing the gunpowder collection process, place some torches to light up the area and dig your way out of the tunnel. Place some ladders so you can climb down to collect gunpowders and a trapdoor at the entrance so no mobs can enter the tunnel. After finishing the entrance, place trapdoors on the farm roof so other mobs cannot spawn.

After that, place blocks to create another roof, which will serve as the base for more floors.

Repeat the process by placing more blocks, carpets, and cats to create identical floors. The more floors you make, the more efficient the farm will be, so more creepers will spawn for more gunpowder.

After creating more floors, place stone slabs on top to complete building the creeper farm. Place some torches around the farm to improve the efficiency.

Now, use scaffolding to build up to create an AFK spot for yourself. Build almost 90 blocks above the farm and surround your AFK spot with glasses to protect yourself from phatoms. You can now stay in the AFK spot, and the creeper farm will start working. You can check the chest later to see how much gunpowder has been stored.

Now you have a working creeper farm for getting gunpowder in Minecraft. This farm can generate up to 300 gunpowders every hour, so you should collect them every few hours.
