Helldivers 2 had the biggest launch ever for a PlayStation Studios game on Steam with a higher concurrent player number than any previous titles.
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by PlayStation Studios, Helldivers 2 had the biggest launch ever for a PlayStation game on PC. The third-person co-op game was released on February 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Helldivers 2 already outsold the global phenomenon Palworld on Steam on its launch day and is currently on top of Steam’s Top Sellers list.
Helldivers 2 is also the first console-exclusive title from PlayStation Studios to launch simultaneously on PC. In the game, a team of four players can jump into action-packed, intense missions where they will fight hordes of aliens and robots. In addition, Helldivers 2 has cross-platform support, so players on PC can play with players on the PlayStation 5.

However, shortly after the game was released, players started complaining about crash issues and other problems. As a result, the review page of Helldivers 2 took a hit, with only 68% of submitted reviews marked as ‘Positive.’ However, most of the negative reviews appeared because of server issues and the developers’ decision to use nProtect GameGuard anti-cheat software.
The players suggested that since the game doesn’t have any PvP combat, the developers could easily choose a different anti-cheat software to avoid unnecessary crashes.
