Just one day after her release, League of Legends’ newest champion, Gwen receives a hotfix buff in League of Legends patch 11.8.
After many speculations, Riot Games has officially released League of Legends 155th champion, Gwen. However, ever since she was in the PBE, a lot of players have been complaining that she feels very “underwhelming” to play in the Summoner’s Rift. And Riot eventually also buffed her in the PBE before releasing her.
But her state remained the same even in the live servers. Currently, Gwen has the lowest win rate in League of Legends in both Top and Mid lane. Even though she has a 22% ban rate, she only has a 39.27% and 39.27% win rate in Top and Mid, respectively. Moreover, some players are also playing her in the jungle which has even lower win rates.

It usually takes a few patches for the players to fully understand a new champion’s kit. From observing the previous new champions who were in a similar state as Gwen at release, we can see that most of them were hotfixed in the release patch, and they eventually turned into meta champions just after one or two patches.
Now, Riot is also taking the same measurements for Gwen as they have already hotfix-buffed her in patch 11.8’s mid-patch updates.
Gwen hotfix buff
- Base Armor:
- Q – Snip Snip! Base Damage Per Snip:
- Q – Snip Snip! Final Snip Base Damage:
In this hotfix, Riot has increased Gwen’s base armor to 39 while increasing her Q’s base damage for every level.
If she remains in the same state even with these Mid-patch buffs, we might also see some more Gwen buffs in the upcoming patches as well.
