With the conclusion of Playday 8 of Rainbow Six European League, G2 Esports, BDS, and Team Empire have now qualified for the upcoming Six August Major.
Ubisoft has confirmed that the next Six Major will indeed be an International LAN event held in Mexico. However, just like the Six Invitational ‘May’ Edition, there won’t be any audience present in the venue.
From the EU region, only the top four teams of EUL Stage 2 will get a spot in the Major, and before Playday 8, these teams were G2, BDS, Empire, and Na’Vi. Three of these four teams got a win yesterday, meaning they have now guaranteed themselves a place in the top 4 and thus a ticket to Mexico.
With these three EU teams, the total number of qualified teams for the Mexico Major now adds up to five, the other being Spacestation Gaming from NA, and CYCLOPS athlete gaming from APAC. Nine other teams are yet to be qualified: 4 from LATAM, 3 from APAC, 3 from NA, and 1 from EU.
In EUL, only one playday remains, and Na’Vi, who are currently sitting at 4th position, will want to secure a 4th-place finish with a win versus BDS. Vitality, on the other hand, will look forward to getting a win and hoping that Na’Vi loses in the last playday.
The Mexico August Major is scheduled to kick off on August 16th. All 16 teams will be competing in this tournament for a total prize pool of $500,000 and the extra SI points. Keep following us for the latest updates.
