Should you slaughter the seals or let the elders go during the Frostpunk 2 prologue?
Frostpunk 2 is a survival city-builder game. You are tasked with leading the last settlement on Earth and surviving a cold and unforgiving world where resources are scarce.
Throughout the game, you will have to manage resources, factions, morale, and will have to make tough decisions.
You will be faced with one such decision at the end of the prologue, one which will set the tone for the rest of the game.
When your camp is faced with the threat of starvation during an upcoming whiteout, you will have to choose between two decisions that will affect the morale of your camp and your resources. Moreover, it will test your morals and might even lead to the destruction of your settlement.
To ensure there is enough you can slaughter the last surviving colony of seals. Or, you can let the Elders in your camp, who have volunteered to leave the camp to reduce the strain on your stockpiles, journey into the Frostland.
In this article, we’ll look at the consequences of each decision.

Slaughter the Seals
Slaughtering the Seals will greatly increase your Food production and ensure that your camp will have enough food to survive the upcoming whiteout.
However, this decision will permanently remove the Seal Colony, killing the last remaining colony of Seals.
It will also result in Frostlanders being supportive of you at the start of Chapter 1. But, the Faithkeepers will dislike you, as they believe that all life is sacred.
While this decision quickly boosts your Food stockpile and also spares the Elders. It also removes a potentially renewable food source and a key part of the ecosystem.
Moreover, while some elders will be thankful, others will view this as a short-sighted decision, and worry about the moral of your camp, as well as the toll this irreversible decision will take on future generations.
Let the Elders Go
Choosing to Let the Elders Go will reduce your Food Stockpile requirement to 25K. This will also greatly reduce the amount of Food your camp will need to survive the upcoming whiteout.
This decision will allow your camp to gather enough food, however, it will also decrease the moral throughout camp as the loss of the elders will be a tough pill to swallow.
Do Not Resort to Extremes
You can also decide not to take either of these extreme decisions and tell your camp to Tighten Their Belts. This will drive up their hunger and also tank your camp’s trust in you. This will result in one of two outcomes.
If you gather enough food to survive the upcoming whiteout regardless, you’ll get the Against All Odds prologue ending. This will result in high morale for your camp as well as the Faithkeepers supporting you from the start of Chapter 1.
If you fail to gather enough food to survive the upcoming whiteout, you’ll get the Chaos and Starvation prologue ending. This will cause your camp to starve during the whiteout, leading to chaos and your camp will not survive. Thus, it will end your playthrough in tragedy.
