Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to the original critically acclaimed survival city-building game, Frostpunk.

Like the previous title, you are tasked with leading the last city on Earth. You’ll have to brave a harsh and cold world where resources are scarce and people’s needs are plenty.

As such, you’ll have carefully to manage resources, people’s trust and happiness, and factions.

You’ll also have to make tough choices during key events as well as the day-to-day operations in your city.

During the prologue of Frostpunk 2, you’ll build your first Food District. Afterward, you will discover how hard it actually is to get enough food to meet people’s needs.

In the prologue, where you are with the Wanderers, you’ll have to gather enough resources to survive an upcoming whiteout, including 40K Food stockpiles. Your food districts operating as usual will not be enough to meet this requirement.

As such, you will have to make decisions that will affect your camp’s morale and their trust in you.

In this article, we’ll look at how you can Instruct Wanderers to Tighten Belts and Do Emergency Shifts, to increase Food Production, and how it will affect your objective.

Should you Instruct the Wanderers to Tighten Belts or Order Emergency Shifts?

You’ll be able to select these orders after building your first Food District during the prologue.

Selecting Tighten Belts will significantly increase Hunger but will decrease Food Demand per capita. To do this, click the Wanderer at the bottom of the screen and then click Tighten Belts.

Similarly, ordering Emergency Shifts will increase Production Efficiency, but slightly decrease Trust. To do this, click on the Emergency Shifts button at the bottom.

Both these options can be selected simultaneously and will significantly help reach 40K Food stockpiles to prepare for the upcoming whiteout.

However, both choices are completely optional and will not affect the story.

We recommend, choosing Tighten Belts once you get the option in the prologue. This will reduce Food Consumption and will help fill Food Stockpiles faster. This will help you reach the 40K Food Stockpile objective to survive the whiteout and complete the prologue.
