Find out whether you should remove the bodies or respect the dead in the Oil Tomb in Frostpunk 2.
In Frostpunk 2, you’ll have to make morally questionable decisions to ensure the survival of your city. Resources are far and few between, and there are factions that will prioritize one resource over another.
Moreover, some factions will prioritize values over resources and will expect you to make decisions that will forego immediate rewards.
One tough choice you’ll have to make appears in Chapter 1. When you are tasked with finding a permanent fuel source outside of New London, you will come across the Old Dreadnought.
Here you will find 3 Oil Nodes that you can use to extract Oil.
However, you will have to decide whether to remove some bodies to use the 3rd Oil Node or respect the dead.
The choice you make here will affect your standing in the Wanderer group, and we will look at the consequences of each decision in this article.

Respect The Dead
Respecting the dead will leave you with 2 Oil Nodes at the Old Dreadnought to get oil from. However, you can change your mind later and decide to build on the 3rd Oil Node later.
While this decision initially gives you lower oil production, it does have other benefits.
Firstly, it significantly reduces the demands made by the Wanderer group in week 330. You’ll either need to maintain 8 guard squads or pay 24K oil, as opposed to maintaining 12 guard squads or paying 30k oil. You can also choose to build on the 3rd Oil Node after this event.
However, building on the 3rd Oil Node later can increase the risk of disease.
Remove the Bodies
Removing the dead will give you 3 Oil Nodes. This will maximize your oil production from the Old Dreadnought. However, this will greatly anger the Wanderer group.
While this decision gives you quicker access to a valuable resource, it will create problems later on.
In week 330, during an Intruder Event, you will have to either defeat the Wanderers with 12 guard squads or pay them off with 30k Oil.
Moreover, the Wanderers will not help you later on, and will not share their knowledge on oil.
Should you Remove the Bodies or Respect the Dead?
You should choose to leave the bodies buried, as it will make the Wanderers easier to deal with in week 330. Moreover, if you really need the extra oil production, you can build on the 3rd tile after dealing with the Wanderers.
