Playground Games has finally revealed the PC requirements for Forza Horizon 6, and the good news is this is not one of those new releases that instantly locks out mid-range rigs. The official details show a fairly wide range of targets, starting at 1080p on older hardware and scaling all the way up to an Extreme RT preset for players chasing 4K visuals with ray tracing. The studio also confirmed the game launches on PC on May 19, with Premium Edition owners getting early access from May 15.
The Minimum and Recommended Specs Look Pretty Reasonable
At the low end, Forza Horizon 6 asks for an Intel Core i5 8400 or Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB of RAM, and either a GTX 1650, RX 6500 XT, or Intel Arc A380. That setup is aimed at 1080p and 60 FPS on Low settings. For recommended play, the target jumps to 1440p at 60 FPS or higher, with an Intel Core i5 12400F or Ryzen 5 5600X, 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc A580. An SSD is required in both cases.
High End Players Will Need Serious Hardware
Things get much heavier once you move into the top presets. The Extreme tier targets 4K at 60 FPS or higher and calls for an Intel Core i7 12700K or Ryzen 7 7700X, 24 GB of RAM, an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT, plus an NVMe SSD. The Extreme RT preset is even more demanding, targeting 4K upscaled at 60 FPS or higher with ray tracing enabled. For that, Playground is asking for the same CPU class, 32 GB of RAM, an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT, and an NVMe SSD. That is a big jump, but it also tells you exactly where the visual ceiling for the PC version is going to sit.
PC Features Are Arguably Just as Important as the Specs
The specs are only part of the story. Playground says Forza Horizon 6 on PC will support 4K HDR, uncapped frame rates, ultrawide resolutions, and expanded graphics options that can be changed without restarting the game. The studio also confirmed benchmark mode, live previews for many settings, and real-time memory usage displays, which should make tweaking performance a lot less annoying than usual.
On the tech side, Forza Horizon 6 is launching with NVIDIA DLSS 4 features, AMD FSR 3 and 4, depending on GPU support, and Intel XeSS 2.1. Ray-traced reflections and ray-traced global illumination are also supported on compatible graphics cards, which explains why the Extreme RT tier looks so demanding compared to the rest.
This Looks Like a Good Sign for Optimization
Honestly, these specs paint a pretty encouraging picture. Minimum requirements are not absurd, recommended specs feel realistic for a major 2026 release, and the ultra high end presets seem reserved for players who want every visual bell and whistle turned on. That is how PC requirements should work. Instead of making the whole game feel inaccessible, Playground seems to be scaling the experience properly across a broad range of hardware.

| Play on Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally |
Forza Horizon 6 also appears ready for handheld style play, with Playground specifically mentioning devices like Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally. If that holds up well in practice, it could make this one of the more flexible big budget PC racing launches of the year.
If you were worried that Forza Horizon 6 would demand a monster PC just to get decent performance, these newly revealed specs should calm those fears a bit. You will still need a strong setup for 4K and ray tracing, but 1080p and 1440p players are in a much better spot than expected. On paper at least, this looks like a solidly optimized racing game with room to scale upward for enthusiasts, which is exactly what PC players want to see before launch.
