The upcoming sequel of Dragon’s Dogma has an uncapped framerate, but the game will not have graphics presets or settings on Xbox or PlayStation.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 cannot run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S due to slow CPUs, but the game can run at 30 FPS after some minor tweaks. Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Dragon’s Dogma 2, said in an interview that the game will not feature visual modes on consoles.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel of 2012’s original Dragon Dogma from Capcom, and the title is scheduled for release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 22, 2024. Wesley LeBlanc from Game Informer interviewed Hideaki Itsuno about the uncapped framerate feature on consoles, and the director explained the game’s visual features on the platform.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Run at 30 FPS on Consoles

In an interview with Game Informer, Hideaki Itsuno confirmed that there will be no Performance or Quality modes in PlayStation or Xbox versions of Dragon Dogma 2. In addition, Itsuno discussed that the game will have uncapped framerate on all formats.

The game has an uncapped framerate. We’re aiming to go at around or higher than 30 FPS. That is for consoles as well. There are some functions that you can turn on and off, but there aren’t multiple sets of options that you can change at once [likely alluding to visual presets seen in the options of other games on consoles today]. But yeah, the frame rate will come uncapped for all consoles.
