Should you kill Jacob and Taylor in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty or not?

Cyberpunk 2077 is a dystopian sci-fi RPG set in the near future. Developed by CD Projekt Red, it features a massive and deep storyline like those of the developer’s previous titles. Furthermore, it showcases freedom of choice as one of its features. Thus, the choices you make during dialogue and in missions can affect your game and the story.

This rings true for the game’s first expansion, Phantom Liberty. It includes a brand new espionage-filled spy-thriller storyline. It takes you to Dogtown where you have to forge alliances and interact with all kinds of shady and intimidating characters to complete your mission of rescuing President Myers.

Therefore, you should think over your choices and dialogue rather than just mashing A to skim through conversations.

During the main quest of Phantom Liberty, along with a host of other crucial decisions, you must decide whether you should kill two characters named Jacob and Taylor during the mission Lucretia My Reflection.

This guide is all about that choice and how it will impact your story.

Lucretia My Reflection

After you protect and rescue President Myers from the Barghest militia, you will find yourself making your way through some subway tunnels. While exploring these tunnels, you will come across a hideout, which will allow you to get a break from all the action.

After fixing the generator and bringing the power back, a conversation will occur between you and Myer’s over Kurt Hansen’s, the leader Barghest, speech. Once this dialogue ends, two scavengers Jacob and Taylor, will come through the front door. You will have to decide whether to kill or keep them around.

Jacob and Taylor

As you do not know who these two people are, and your job is to protect Myers at all costs, it is a natural instinct to want to dispose of them. Myers herself immediately feels threatened and pulls out her gun.

But, you have the opportunity to intervene and calm the situation down. The safest option is to kill them and dispose of their bodies to minimize the risks to your mission. However, the duo seems relatively harmless and might offer something valuable.

Option 1: Killing Jacob and Taylor

You can play it safe and kill them outright, which will allow their bodies. Also, you will need to carry their bodies to the garbage chute to dispose of their bodies. This will allow you to get a double-barrel shotgun and some Eurodollars. However, trusting them may be the better option.

There are several ways to kill them. Firstly, you can ignore the quick time event that occurs when Myers suggests killing them. This will lead to Myers emerging from cover and opening fire on Jacob and Taylor.

Another way is to ignore the rules set by them during negotiations. If you get too close, they will start firing. Additionally, negotiations can go south, and you can continue threatening the duo.

Option 2: Trusting Jacob and Taylor

If you choose to trust them, you’ll have to press some timed dialogue options before they expire. Failing to do so or getting too close to them will result in them attacking you and Myers, so keep calm while you’re talking to them. Choosing to cooperate with them will allow you to gain valuable information about Kurt Hansen, his airdrops, and Dogtown.

You will also gain two new allies to help you protect Myers. Additionally, you can talk to them to learn more about their history.

Final Outcome

Keep in mind, however, that whatever option you pick, they will end up dead anyway, either by your hands or someone else’s, Only one option will allow you to have a guilt-free conscience.
