In a surprising news today, Troy “Canadian” Jaroslawski announced that he will be stepping away from competitive Rainbow Six Siege.
Similar to Pengu, who also retired from R6S this month, Canadian has been at the top level of Siege esports for over 5 years now. But the move to step back from his place on Spacestation Gaming was due to losing motivation of competing at the highest level.
‘Canadian’ is one of the very few players, who won the Six Invitational two times. His first Six Invitational victory came with Continuum in 2017, where they beat eRa Eternity 2-1 in the finals. Later the Continuum roster was acquired by Siege’s first big organization in Evil Geniuses (EG).
The next year in 2018, the EG roster attended their second SI grand-final in a row, where they faced Penta Sports. The grand finals of [EG vs Penta] still remains to be the most-watched match of Siege to date, where we saw EG get reverse-swept after taking a two-map lead.
Canadian left Evil Genisues to join Spacestation Gaming where he was able to win a major event once again. SSG defeated Ninjas In Pyjamas 3-2 in the grand finals of the Six Invitational 2020, which means Canadian and his teammates still remains as the current World Champions.
With such a big history in R6 esports, Canadian’s retirement will be a huge blow to the North American region and the Siege community as a whole. Canadian will stay away from playing or coaching Siege for the foreseeable future and will instead focus on streaming and exploring other opportunities.
In his Twitlonger post, Canadian wrote: “[I want to] thank everyone who has supported me through my time playing. Whether that’s family, fans, teammates, organization management, devs, media, talent, whoever. I have met some great people through my time competing on R6 and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience what I have and to make the memories I did. This was an important chapter of my life but I know it’s the right decision for me to step away for now and figure some things out for myself before I decide what I will be committing to next. I hope I will continue to have the support of you all in whatever that might be.”
With the transfer window now being closed, Spacestation Gaming cannot buy a free agent. So they’ll continue to play NAL stage 1 with their analyst Luke as the fifth player.
The new NAL season kicks off on March 24th at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT, and you can catch the live action on Twitch and Youtube.
