A-League player found out that buying too much RP could lead your account to be temporarily blocked from gifting other players.

Riot first introduced the Gifting Center in League of Legends back in 2012 and the purpose of the Gifting Center is that players can gift their friends champions or skins by spending RP. There are also some regulations, players need to be at least level 10 to sends any gifts and one player can send and receive at most 10 times every 24 hours.

However, Reddit user u/hellschatt might have discovered another restraint before sending gifts to other players.

u/hellschatt brought some absurd amount of RP to gift his friends, apparently, it seems like after buying so much RP at the same time, his account has been temporarily blocked from gifting any skins to his friends.

In the Gifting Center, it says, “For your protection, you cannot gift with this feature because you have too much RP. Please contact player support if you would like to give a gift.”

It is a very common thing to see on a stolen account where that person tries to buy as much RP as possible with the attached card on the account and later send it back to their main accounts. And to protect user accounts Riot also blocks users from sending gifts if they buy some significant amount of RP at the same time.

Although it is still uncertain what is the limit of purchasing RP without getting blocked, it could be around 20k – 30k.
