Here is all you need to know about the best upgrades in Hellboy: Web of Wyrd

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is an action beat ’em up game published by Upstream Arcade. The game is based on Mike Mignola’s cult classic comic, Hellboy. Additionally, the art style of the game is heavily inspired by the original comics.

In Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, you play as Hellboy and are sent to the depths of Wyrd to investigate some unsolved mystery and find the missing agent. And you later realize that you just stumbled upon a world filled to the brim with enemies all controlled by an evil ancient force.

However, you’re not exactly unarmed and weak. That’s because the game gives you several options to upgrade your weapons and equipment so that you’ll have an easier time smashing anyone who stands in your way.

Therefore, if you’re wondering what upgrades you should get with your hard-earned coins, then don’t worry; we’ve got you covered.

Along with the temporary power-ups you can get in each level, the game also has a progression upgrade system at the Butterfly House. These upgrades are permanent and will bolster Hellboy with better defense or better attacking options.

However, as always, some upgrades are better than others. In my opinion, here are the best upgrades you can get in Hellboy Web of Wyrd.

5. Dodge Counter

For a game that mostly involves pummeling enemies to the ground, upgrades that give you direct combat advantages are a no-brainer when you’re beefing up your attributes.

The Dodge Counter upgrades allow Hellboy to deal significant extra damage when he dodges at the last second and attacks immediately after.

Another bonus is that it also deals extra stun damage, which can prove to be absolutely pivotal in a boss fight. Although you do need a little time to get used to the dodge timers, once you get it down, this upgrade really amplifies your reward.

4. Total Health

Like in many other beat em’ ups, health is probably one of the more important aspects of combat. And Hellboy Web of Wyrd is no different.

A larger health bar is quite self-explanatory, as it allows Hellboy to take a bit more damage before he bites the dust.

However, the impact of the upgrade can be really felt against tougher enemies who can send you back to earth with a couple of blows.

3. Boom

This upgrade allows you to perform a special attack on stunned enemies to deal tons of damage and send them flying. Both aspects this upgrade provides are great.

First, the extra burst damage bonus you get is nice to have in any scenario, and secondly, the knockback attribute is nothing to scoff at as well.

When you’re cornered or just in a bad position to fight the enemy, the knock-back of the Boom can prove to be very handy as it opens up a way to create space and control the position of yourself and the enemy quite effectively.

2. Total Toughness

Although both Total Health and Total Toughness help you to stay in the fight longer, putting points into Total Toughness can prove to be more useful in the field of combat.

The distinction between the two is that Toughness regenerates over time, whereas Health, once depleted, does not regenerate.

And for your health to be depleted, enemies must get rid of your toughness first. So, putting more points into this upgrade can give you more value if you want to last in combat longer.

1. Revive

This upgrade takes the top spot for just how strong and useful it is. Revive is an upgrade in Hellboy: Web of Wyrd that allows Hellboy to rise from the dead upon taking lethal damage, allowing himself to get another shot at the enemy.

This upgrade is undoubtedly the strongest in the game because you’ll often be on the brink of death when fighting bosses at the end of levels. And getting yourself killed will send to to the start of the level again, which can be a drag for many.

But if you have the Revive upgrade unlocked, then you will get a second shot at taking down the foe. Additionally, this can save you a lot of frustration if you’re afraid of dying to a boss who is just a hit or two away from death.
