Starting from Season 18, players will get Banner Frames instead of Dive Trails as rank rewards.

Apex Legends introduced rank mode in Season 2: Battlecharge. Since then, rank mode has become the most popular playlist in Apex Legends. Apart from the thrilling competition, players grind ranked because of the special rank rewards Apex gives to players at the end of every season.

Respawn usually rewards players with unique rank-specific skydive trails, gun charms, and badges. Among all the rewards, the dive trails are very special to players because they look awesome, and only Diamonds, Masters, and Predators can earn these rewards.

However, Respawn revealed that they will stop rewarding players with rank dive trails from Season 18.

Why will Banner Frames Replace Ranked Dive Trails?

Thanks to the poor rank system, a record number of players have reached Masters rank in Season 17. According to recent data, more than a million players, which accounts for more than 30% of rank players reached Masters this season.

The Master rank dive trail is very special and should only be rewarded to the ones who deserve it. However, if Respawn rewards dive trails as rank rewards this season, the sky will be filled with Master skydive trails.

This might be one of the reasons why Respawn decided not to reward the players with ranked dive trails this season. But Respawn’s official announcement mentioned that they’re removing it due to the targeted landing, following the dive trails.

“We’ve been observing an unintended effect where the presence of a Ranked Dive Trail during the drop would unduly influence where players wanted to land—either strongly avoiding or actively pursuing players with the trail.” – Respawn team.
