Everything about the tool that lights your path in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the Torch

Exploration has been a big part of Assassin’s Creed games since the series’ inception. And the Torch has been introduced to make traversal of crypts and dungeons easier. Additionally, it serves the important function of helping you remember your trail in AC Mirage.

Though its main purpose is in exploration, it can also help you during stealth, as it is effective for taking down outposts and groups of unsuspecting enemies and even tougher enemies such as armored units and mercenaries.

This guide focuses on the Torch, how to unlock it, and how to use it.

How to Unlock Torch in AC Mirage

The Torch is unlocked very early in the game, and it, along with the Throwing Knife, is one of the tools you get as soon as you become a fully-fledged Assassin.

It is unlocked during “A New Beginning”, when you get initiated into the Hidden Ones and help Nur patrol the main canyon.

How to Use Torch in AC Mirage

As discussed previously, the torch can be used to illuminate dark spaces, making exploration easier. Additionally, it can be placed on the ground, and since the Torch can placed infinitely and used indefinitely, i.e., infinite ammo, it can used to leave a trail so that you don’t get lost.

Although it might seem useless outside exploration, the torch is deceptively effective and versatile for combat and stealth.

In stealth, you can throw it at enemies, this will put them on fire and cause them to leave their patrol or watch spot, leaving you an open path to your objective.

The torch causes enemies to understandably ignore you during combat and focus on putting the flames out as they’re being burned alive. It ignores armored enemies’ defense and allows you to assassinate them and kill them instantly. Also, it stuns mercenaries, a tough enemy, letting you easily take them down.

Furthermore, if you have the Flammable Smoke upgrade for your Smoke Bomb, you can use it in tandem with the torch and create explosions to take down groups of enemies easily.

However, keep in mind that the torch cannot be used during direct combat, so use it during stealth or, if you have been spotted, keep the throwing arm handy right before combat starts.
