The long-running Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake rumors are back in the spotlight, and this time the claim feels a little more specific. A fresh report says Ubisoft is currently planning to announce Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on April 16, which would put the reveal just days away. The latest report comes via Insider Gaming, citing ResetEra user BlackBate, while also noting that April 16 had already been the planned timing internally for some time.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal date rumor explained

According to the new report, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is supposedly lined up for an April 16 announcement. That lines up with earlier reporting, which said the remake was expected to be revealed in mid-April if everything stayed on track. On top of that, internal documentation points to a fiscal Q2 FY2027 release window, which translates to sometime between June and August 2026, though even that should still be treated carefully until Ubisoft says something official.

That last part is important. Right now, fans are dealing with a rumor built on top of a project that is already widely expected to exist. So while the game itself no longer feels like a mystery, the exact timing of the full reveal still very much is.

Ubisoft has already confirmed Black Flag Resynced is real

What makes this latest rumor more interesting is that Ubisoft is no longer pretending the remake does not exist. Back in March 2026, the company officially acknowledged Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in a franchise update. Ubisoft confirmed the remake is real and even used the Resynced name, while the company’s teasing message told fans to “keep your spyglass on the horizon.” That was basically Ubisoft’s way of saying yes, the rumors were real, but it was not ready to properly show the game yet.

That official nod changed the conversation around the project. Before that, the remake lived in the usual rumor cycle of leaks, ratings, voice actor comments, and internet detective work. After Ubisoft’s tease, the question shifted from whether Black Flag Resynced existed to when the publisher would finally pull the curtain back.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is still one of the most beloved games in the series, so any remake was always going to get attention. But this one feels especially important for Ubisoft right now. Black Flag Resynced is one of the major releases for the current financial year for Ubisoft, which means there is more riding on this than just nostalgia. If Ubisoft really is getting ready for a reveal next week, it is probably because the publisher wants to start building momentum sooner rather than later.

There is also the bigger question of what kind of remake this will be. Fans are naturally hoping for more than just a visual refresh. Black Flag still holds up in a lot of ways, but a modern remake could improve naval combat flow, world interaction, stealth systems, and overall presentation without losing the pirate fantasy that made the original such a hit in the first place.

Should fans believe the April 16 date?

Cautious optimism is probably the best approach here. The remake itself has already been acknowledged by Ubisoft, so this is not one of those random internet rumors with zero foundation. At the same time, the exact reveal date is still unofficial, and Insider Gaming itself notes that Ubisoft has a habit of delaying or reshuffling projects. In other words, April 16 sounds believable, but it is still not locked in until Ubisoft says so publicly.

Even so, all signs are pointing in the same direction. Ubisoft has already teased the project, the Resynced name is out there, and now the reporting is narrowing in on a very specific announcement date. If the rumor holds, Assassin’s Creed fans may not have to wait much longer to see Edward Kenway sail again.
