The smurfing issue has always been a nuisance in Apex Legends. However, Respawn does not have any actual lookout over smurf accounts and the players who do it.

Apex Legends is a very competitive Battle Royale game mixed with ability-based gameplay. The game offers advanced movement mechanisms and high-skill gunplay that make the game different from other Battle Royale titles.

The game also has a Skill Based Matchmaking or, in short, an SBMM system. It allows players to play against similarly skilled opponents in every match, no matter whether it is a casual or ranked match. In theory, it is supposed to create a friendly and enjoyable experience for all skilled players.

However, as Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, many players make multiple accounts so that they can play against people with low levels or ranks. It sure makes the matches fun for the smurfs, but it miserably ruins the experience for countless other players in the lobby.

Apex Fan Thinks Respawn is “Murdering The Game”

Many players are frustrated with the smurfing issues in Apex Legends regardless of ranked or casual matches. The smurfs can be seen in almost every low-level lobby, running and gunning players with a 30-level account with 20 kills and 4k damage badges.

Apex fans have complained several times about the smurfing issues through many platforms. However, Respawn has yet to take action against smurf accounts and the players who do it. Even professional Apex Legends players stream while playing with a smurf account, destroying the lower ranked lobbies without getting punished. So, it basically implies that Respawn does not care much about smurfs.

You can see a player’s frustration against smurfs in Apex Legends in this Reddit comment. The user ramsayfps thinks Respawn does not care about Apex as the smurf issues keep rising along with other major problems in the game. Ramsay also believes if Respawn keeps this up and does not fix the game, the game will eventually die.

Regardless of anything, smurfing is an undeniable problem in Apex Legends, with many players suffering from it. It also causes many newcomers to quit before they start enjoying the game. So, according to countless players, Respawn really needs to step up and find a solution to get rid of the smurfing issues and make Apex Legends better again.
