Apex Legends receives mostly negative review on steam following controversial changes on the Steamdech handheld gaming device.

The current season 22 of Apex Legends has received a lukewarm response from the player base. This paired with serious security issues with the Apex client has impacted the concurrent player count. Consequently, the total concurrent player count dropped under 100k on Steam for the first time following its release on the platform in 2022.

While the battle royale is leaking players due to terrible mismanagement from the development team, the recent changes to the Steam Deck worsened the situation. Steam Deck, Valve’s first foray into the handled gaming market has garnered quite a large player base. As such, the custom Linux port of Apex Legends catered to the mobile experience was created.

Unfortunately, the recent hacking incident that impacted the professional Apex Legends tournament has raised massive security concerns regarding the game client. As such, Respawn Entertainment, the development studio behind Apex has decided to block Linux support for the title.

The underwhelming season, poor management of the battle pass system, and the recent Linux debacle made the player base unhappy. As such, players decided to flock to the Steam reviews to display their frustrations.
