Apex Legendsโ fight against cheaters is not slowing down in Season 28. The Anti-Cheat team has shared a new update for April 24, 2026, confirming another major ban wave, almost 1,000 DMA card-related bans, and more than 6.6 million Ranked Points removed from the current season.
This is a pretty big update for Apex Legends fans. It does not mean Apex is suddenly cheat-free, but it does show that Respawn is still actively going after accounts ruining matches, especially in ranked.
Apex Legends Anti-Cheat Team Bans 28,267 Accounts
According to the latest statement from the Apex Legends Anti-Cheat team, 28,267 accounts have been banned across all platforms since the previous update on April 2. These bans cover โvarious cheating infractions,โ meaning the number is not limited to one cheat type or one platform.
This follows Respawnโs earlier Season 28 anti-cheat report from April 2, where the team said it had banned 73,591 accounts across PC and console at the start of Split 2. That earlier report also included 70,242 PC bans and 3,349 console bans, showing just how heavily the cheating issue still leans toward PC while console remains part of the enforcement picture.
Nearly 1,000 DMA Card Users Were Banned
The biggest highlight from the April 24 update is the nearly 1,000 bans tied to DMA card use. DMA cheats have become one of the more frustrating problems in competitive shooters because they can be harder to detect than basic software cheats.
Respawn has been making hardware-based cheating a bigger focus throughout 2026. In March, EA said devices and hardware that manipulate inputs or provide unfair advantages undermine competitive integrity, especially in controller and console ecosystems. The team also said confirmed hardware cheaters would face permanent bans once detected.
That makes this latest DMA ban wave important. It is not just another generic ban count. It shows that the Anti-Cheat team is actively targeting more advanced cheating methods, not only the obvious aimbots and wallhacks that players usually complain about.
Apex Legends Removes Over 6.6 Million RP in Season 28
Alongside the ban numbers, the Anti-Cheat team also confirmed that 6,655,192 RP has been removed from Season 28 so far. That total is split between 4,413,776 RP removed in Split 1 and 2,241,416 RP removed in Split 2.
This is arguably the most important part for ranked players. Banning cheaters is one thing, but removing illegitimate RP helps clean up the ranked ladder after those players have already affected matches. Apex ranked has always had a snowball problem when cheaters climb quickly, boost others, or distort Predator and Master lobbies. RP removal directly targets that damage.
Apex Legends Reaches Its Lowest Infection Rate Yet
The Anti-Cheat team also says Apex Legends has reached its lowest infection rate since it began tracking the statistic. According to the April 24 update, the current infection rate sits at 4.1% midway through Split 2 of Season 28.
That is down from the previous all-time low of 5.8%, which was reported in December 2025. Respawnโs December anti-cheat data share described Match Infection Rate as the percentage of total matches that include at least one cheater, meaning a lower number is better for the overall health of matchmaking.
Respawn Says More Anti-Cheat Updates Are Coming
Respawn is not presenting this as the finish line. The Anti-Cheat team says it is still working on more updates, enhancements, and detections, with more information planned for the future.
That lines up with EAโs March anti-cheat post, where Respawn said it was developing a multi-layered detection system to identify input-manipulating hardware with a high degree of confidence. The same post also made it clear that confirmed cheating through hardware would lead to account loss, not leniency.
Season 28 has already been a huge talking point for Apex Legends, especially around ranked changes, matchmaking, and competitive integrity. This anti-cheat update gives the community something more concrete to judge. The numbers are not vague. Over 28,000 accounts have been banned since April 2, nearly 1,000 DMA bans, 6.6 million RP removed, and a new low infection rate of 4.1%.
That is a strong sign of progress, even if players will still judge the game by what they experience in their own lobbies. The real test is whether Apex can keep this momentum going through the rest of Season 28 and beyond.
